224 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 23, 1990 <br />APPROVE REQUESTS TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEI <br />- FOUR (4) VACUUM LEAF LOADERS - STREET DEP <br />- MONROE PARK HOUSE DEMOLITION PROJECT <br />- WEST BANK LIGHTING II - JEFFERSON SOUTH P <br />- ASPHALT PAVING OF TWO (2) AREAS <br />PROPERTY ON OLD CLEVELAND ROAD <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Bill <br />Transportation, requested that the <br />receipt of bids for four (4) vacuum <br />OF BIDS <br />ON WASTEWATER <br />MENT PLANT <br />Penn, Director, Division of <br />Board advertise for the <br />leaf loaders of sufficient <br />size and power capabilities to vacuum large volumes of loose dry <br />and/or wet leaves from City streets in the most efficient manner <br />possible. <br />Additionally, Mr. Michael P. Meeks, Director, Division of <br />Engineering, submitted a written request to the Board that they <br />advertise for the receipt of bids for the Monroe Park House <br />Demolition Project and the West Bank Lighting II - Jefferson <br />South Project. <br />Also, in a letter to the Board, Mr. John J. Dillon, Director, <br />Environmental Services, requested that the Board advertise for <br />the receipt of bids for the asphalt paving of two (2) areas on <br />Wastewater Treatment Plant property on Old Cleveland Road. The <br />first area is around the just completed Sludge Equipment Building <br />and the second area is adjacent to the building and will be used <br />for further drying of the sludge as it comes from the Wastewater <br />Treatment Plant. <br />Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the requests be approved. Ms. <br />Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUESTS REFERRED: <br />- TO CLOSE THE 600 BLOCK OF STUDEBAKER STREET FOR PICNIC FOR <br />CUSTOMERS OF Y-KNOT SHACK - SEPTEMBER 3, 1990 <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Thomas Lue, 643 LaPorte, South <br />Bend, Indiana, requested permission to block off the 600 block <br />of Studebaker Street on Monday, September 3, 1990 from 1:00 <br />p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for a picnic for his customers at the Y-Knot <br />Shack. Mr. Lue advised that he will have two (2) policemen on <br />duty for this event. <br />- TO CLOSE SOU] <br />NEIGHBORHO <br />Mrs. Marth <br />submitted <br />of Access <br />requesting <br />Sunnyside, <br />12, 1990, <br />TO <br />OD BLOCK PARTY - AUGUST 12, 1990 <br />FROM <br />FOR <br />a Kahn, 1408 East South Street, South Bend, Indiana, <br />to the Board an Application for Use of and Blocking <br />to Public Right -of -Way for a Party or Similar Event <br />permission to close South Street, from Longfellow to <br />from 2:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight on Sunday, August <br />for a neighborhood block party. <br />- FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE - ELDORA COURT <br />Mr. William A. Soderberg, Third District Councilman, submitted <br />a letter to the Board on behalf of Mrs. Avis Thasher of 1630 <br />L.W.E., a resident of the third district, who is confined to a <br />wheelchair and needs the assistance of a handicap parking space <br />at her residence. Mr. Soderberg noted that because Mrs. <br />Thasher's home is located on the corner of Lincolnway and <br />Eldora Court the best place for the handicapped parking space <br />would be on Eldora Court. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the above referred to requests <br />be referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for <br />review and recommendation.
