116 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 2, 1990 <br />on behalf of the American Legion Auxiliary, Pulaski Unit 357, <br />1606 Western Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to <br />conduct Poppy Day sales on May 4-5, 1989 utilizing the <br />sidewalks. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be <br />referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for <br />review nd recommendation. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion <br />which carried. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 518 E. KEASEY STREET - <br />REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. & Mrs. George Frison, 532 Keasey <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that they are interested in <br />purchasing the City -owned property at 518 East Keasey Street. <br />Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be <br />referred to the appropriate City department and bureaus in order <br />that a determination can be made whether the City need retain <br />this property. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST FOR FLAT RATE PARKING AT THE MAIN STREET PARKING <br />GARAGE IN CONJUNCTION WITH OPENING DAY AT COVELESKI STADIUM - <br />APRIL 7, 1990 <br />Ms. Mikki Dobski, Director, Office of Community Affairs, <br />requested that the Board offer an all day flat rate of one dollar <br />($1.00) per car on opening day at the Coveleski Stadium which is <br />April 7, 1990. Ms. Dobski stated that this would pertain to the <br />Main Street Parking garage only. This rate will be marked with a <br />special Transpo shuttle at 25 cents per person. She also noted <br />that the gates open at 12:30 p.m. and the game will be finished <br />by 6:00 p.m. Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the request be <br />approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUESTS: <br />- OF RIVERSIDE DRIVE NEIGHBORS TO CLOSE PARK LANE AT LEEPER PARK <br />IN CONJUNCTION WITH EASTER EGG HUNT - APRIL 14, 1990 <br />- OF STUDEBAKER NATIONAL MUSEUM TO CLOSE SOUTH STREET BETWEEN <br />MAIN AND LAFAYETTE, IN CONJUNCTION WITH FESTIVAL - MAY 5-6, <br />1990 <br />- OF VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA TO CONDUCT 2ND ANNUAL MARCH - <br />AUGUST 4, 1990 <br />- OF ST. JOE VALLEY WATERCOLOR SOCIETY FOR CHANGE IN TRAFFIC <br />PATTERN IN CONJUNCTION WITH LEEPER PARK ART FAIR - JUNE <br />JUNE 16-17, 1990 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to requests which were <br />submitted to the Board on March 19, 1990 and March 26, 1990 and <br />approval is recommended. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a <br />motion that the recommendations be accepted and the requests be <br />approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUEST OF PARK DEPARTMENT TO CLOSE NILES AVENUE, BETWEEN <br />WASHINGTON AND COLFAX, IN CONJUNCTION WITH KAYAK RACES - APRIL <br />21-22, 1990, JULY 21-22, 1990 AND AUGUST 18-19, 1990 - REFERRE <br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Mr. Karl T. Stevens, <br />Superintendent, Department of Public Parks, requested that the <br />Board consider closing Niles Avenue, between Washington and <br />Colfax, for the following events: <br />1. Olympic Festival Trials - April 21-22, 1990 <br />2. Champion International Whitewater Series - July 21-22, <br />1990 <br />ril <br />J <br />1 <br />3. Midwest Divisional Championships - August 18-19, 1990 <br />
