I <br />REGULAR MEETING MARCH 19, 1990 <br />Drive, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the Riverside Drive <br />Neighbors are planning an Easter Egg Hunt. Plans are to hold the <br />hunt on Saturday, April 14, 1990 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 <br />noon. Ms. Kenahan advised that she has requested permission from <br />the Park Department to use Leeper Park for this egg hunt and she <br />is therefore also requesting that Park Lane, along the park and <br />Madison School, be closed in order that they may conduct an <br />Easter Parade and bike race. Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that <br />the request be referred to the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus for review and recommendtion. Ms. Humphreys seconded the <br />motion which carried. <br />REQUEST OF STUDEBAKER NATIONAL MUSEUM TO CLOSE SOUTH STREET IN <br />CONJUNCTION WITH 5TH ANNUAL STUDEBAKER FESTIVAL - MAY 5-6. 1990 - <br />REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Tom Appel, Museum Operations <br />Manager, Studebaker National Museum, 120 South St. Joseph Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana, advised that on May 5-6, 1990, the <br />Studebaker National Museum will be hosting the 5th Annual <br />Studebaker Festival at its facilities at 525 South Main Street. <br />Due to the large numbers of vintage automobiles that will be <br />present and the equally large numbers of visitors, it is <br />requested that South Street, between Main Street and Lafayette <br />(200 block of South Street), be closed on these two (2) days. <br />Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the request be referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF INSTITUTE FOR INTERNATIONAL PEACE STUDIES TO <br />CONDUCT MARCH - MARCH 24 1990 <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Rita M. Kopczynski, Assistant <br />Director, Institute for International Peace Studies, University <br />of Notre Dame, P.O. Box 639, Notre Dame, Indiana, advised that a <br />coalition of groups from the University and the City are planning <br />a memorial March on March 24, 1990. The March will begin at St. <br />Joseph High School at 3:00 p.m. and finish at St. Stephen's <br />Church on 1102 West Thomas. It is anticipated that two hundred <br />(200) individuals will participant in the event. Ms. Kopczynski <br />advised that marchers will adhere to all traffic signals and <br />there will be student monitors to insure that this will happen. <br />The March will be silent and will culminate with a mass at St. <br />Stephens. Mrs. DeClercq stated that as this request was just <br />received by the Board and because the date of the event is very <br />near, it is her recommendation and she would make that in the <br />form of a motion that the request be approved subject to <br />favorable recommendations being received by the Board from the <br />various City departments and bureaus that will be asked to review <br />this request. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE CONTRACTORS BONDS <br />Mr. Michael P. Meeks, Director, Division of Engineering, <br />recommended that Contractors Bonds for the following be approved: <br />- APS, Inc., d/b/a Sun God Construction Eff. 3/13/90 <br />- Bill Heiman Construction, Inc. Eff. 3/13/90 <br />Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the recommendation be accepted <br />and the bonds be approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion <br />which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF MARCH OF DIMES TO CONDUCT 20TH ANNUAL WALK <br />AMERICA - APRIL 28, 1990 <br />Mrs. DeClercq advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request which was <br />
