REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 30, 1991 previously received and the request to readvertise be approved. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. AWARD BIDS - SIX (6) OR MORE MECHANICAL STREET SWEEPERS In a letter to the Board, Mr. John E. Leszczynski, Director, Department of Public Works, advised that he, along with Mr. Bill Penn, Director, Division of Transportation and Mr. Phil St. Clair, Director, Division of Equipment Services, have reviewed the bids received on September 16, 1991, for street sweepers for the City. Mr. Leszczynski noted that the major factors taken into account were cost, safety and various uses of the street sweepers. Based on this review, they believe it to be in the best interests of the City to purchase six (6) sweepers with three (3) each from the following manufacturers: BROWN EQUIPMENT COMPANY, INC. 10222 Airport Drive Fort Wayne, Indiana 46509 FMC Vanguard SP Street Sweeper $ 61,562.00 Dual Gutter Broom $ 2,250.00 Spring Suspension on Steering Axle $ 1,000.00 Foam Fill Front Tire $ 167.00 Spare Front Tire & Rim Foam Filled $ 650.00 Spare Rear Tire & Rim $ 735.00 ,Total Price Each $ 66,364.00 Three (3) Sweepers $199,092.00 BEST EQUIPMENT COMPANY, INC. 2804 North Catherwood Avenue Indianapolis, Indiana 46219 Elgin Pelican Model "P" $ 56,500.00 Dual Gutter Broom $ 3,400.00 Steel Belted Radials $ 550.00 One Spare Drive Tire & Rim (Radial) $ 710.00 One Spare Steer Tire & Rim (Radial) $ 470.00 Total Price Each $ 61,630.00 Three (3) Sweepers $184,890.00 Total Bid Award: Three (3) FMC Vanguard SP Street Sweepers $199,092.00 Three (3) Elgin Pelican Model "P" $184,890.00 Grand Total: $383,982.00 Mr. Leszczynski further noted that the reason for the different components is the spring suspension is standard on the Elgin sweepers while radial tires are standard on the FMC machines. The two (2) different types of sweepers offer the City the best mix of performance and safety available to match varied needs, ci-11 at the best price for the City. Therefore, Ms. Humphreys made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bids be awarded. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which carried.
