REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 29, 1991 <br />Ms. Humphreys made a motion that the request be approved. Mr. <br />Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUEST FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE AT 1218 KINYON <br />STREET - REFERRED <br />Ms. Jean Goheen, 1218 Kinyon Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised <br />that she has congenital heart failure and emphysema and would <br />like the parking space in front of her residence designated as a <br />handicapped parking space. <br />Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that this request be <br />forwarded to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for <br />review and recommendation. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion <br />which carried. <br />DENY REQUESTS TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY: <br />- 726 PENNSYLVANIA <br />705 WENGER <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the requests submitted to the Board on June <br />3, 1991 and June 17, 1991, to purchase the above referred to <br />City -owned properties. In both instances, the Department of <br />Economic Development has recommended that these properties not be <br />sold as they are both in the southeast section of the City where <br />the Department hopes to do some redevelopment in the future. <br />Therefore, Ms. Humphreys made a motion that the recommendation of <br />the Department of Economic Development be accepted and the <br />requests be denied. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />APPROVE REQUESTS: <br />TO CLOSE 900 BLOCK OF NORTH COLLEGE FOR BLOCK PARTY - AUGUST <br />11 1991 <br />OF GRACE A.M.E. ZION CHURCH TO CLOSE VASSAR, FROM <br />CLEVELAND TO BLAINE AND BLAINE, FROM CALIFORNIA TO VASSAR, IN <br />CONJUNCTION WITH CHURCH FUND FAIR - AUGUST 3, 1991 <br />- TO CLOSE HAWTHORNE DRIVE. FROM COLFAX TO WASHINGTON. <br />FOR NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - AUGUST 1.0, 1991 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the necessary City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to requests and approval <br />is recommended. <br />It is noted that the request to close the 900 block of North <br />College Street, South Bend, Indiana, was submitted by Ms. Jane <br />Williams, 914 North College Street, South Bend, Indiana. The <br />requests of the A.M.E. Zion Church and the request to close <br />Hawthorne Drive, were submitted to the Board on July 22, 1991, <br />for consideration. <br />'Therefore, Ms. Humphreys made a motion that the request to close <br />-the 900 block of College Street be approved. Mr. Leszczynski <br />seconded the motion which carried. Additionally, Mr. Leszczynski <br />made a motion that the request of the A.M.E. Zion Church be <br />approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded that motion which carried. <br />Finally, Ms. Humphreys made a motion that the request to close <br />Hawthorne Drive, from Colfax to Washington, for a neighborhood <br />block party be approved. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion <br />which carried. <br />APPROVE EXCAVATION BOND <br />Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the Engineering Department has <br />recommended that the Bond of Excavation for Keller Excavating, <br />
