REGULAR MEETING JULY 22, 1991 <br />- OF BURKHART ADVERTISING TO INSTALL TWO (2) AWNINGS AT 1603 <br />SOUTH MAIN STREET <br />Mr. Ronald M. Como, Service/Installation Manager, Burkhard <br />Advertising, 1247 Mishawaka Avenue, P.O. Box 536, South Bend, <br />Indiana, advised that Burkhart Advertising is seeking <br />permission to install two (2) four foot (41) high by fifteen <br />feet (151) long, internally illuminated awnings. The awnings <br />will project out from the facia of the building approximately <br />two feet (2'). <br />The two (2) awnings will be installed at Exhibitech, Inc., <br />1603 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. One (1) awning <br />will read !'Exhibitech and one (1) will read "Lov'n Wood <br />Manufacturing. Mr. Como noted that it appears that on the <br />east side of this location the sidewalk is flush with the <br />front of the building. The two (2) awnings would be <br />installed on the east side of the building and therefore <br />would project over the sidewalk a maximum of two feet (21). <br />The height of the awnings will be.a minimum of eight feet <br />(81) six inches (611) above grade. Submitted with the request <br />were pictures of the location and a drawing of the proposed <br />awnings. <br />OF LA SALLE GRILL FOR TEMPORARY EASEMENT <br />Mr. Stephen S. Haskin, Partner, LaSalle Grill, 115 West <br />Colfax, South Bend, Indiana, requested a Temporary Easement <br />on the sidewalk in front of 115 West Colfax Avenue for the <br />purpose of allowing the LaSalle Grill to offer outside dining <br />for their patrons. <br />Mr. Haskin noted that they are willing to indemnify the City <br />for all liabilities that may arise from their patrons dining <br />outside and they will also erect a moveable barrier to <br />separate the dining area from the sidewalk. Mr. Haskin also <br />noted that the use of the sidewalk space should not impede <br />local foot traffic in any way. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF FIRST A.M.E. ZION CHURCH TO CLOSE CAMPEAU <br />STREET, FROM EDDY TO FRANCES, I_N CONJUNCTION WITH FUN FAIR BAZAAR <br />- AUGUST 24, 1991 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request which was <br />submitted to the Board on July 15, 1991, and approval is <br />recommended. Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the <br />recommendation be accepted and the request be approved. Mr. <br />Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and.carried, the following four (4) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />1. REVISED TO: 20 MPH Speed Limit <br />LOCATION: Bendix - Meade to Westmoor <br />REMARKS: Result of pedestrian traffic study <br />and speed study lowering speed limit <br />to 20 MPH for safety of pedestrians. <br />2. NEW INSTALLATION: Handicap Parking Space (251) <br />LOCATION: 1116 North St. Peter <br />REMARKS: As requested by Mr. Anthony Drake. <br />3. NEW INSTALLATION: No Parking <br />
