<br />APPROVE PROJECT CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 (FINAL) - SIDEWALK AND CURB
<br />REPAIRS
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Michiana Paving & Excavating, Inc.,
<br />705 East Beiger Street, Mishawaka, Indiana, has submitted Change
<br />Order No. 1 (Final) indicating that the Contract amount be
<br />increased by $17,130.50 for a new Contract sum including this
<br />Change Order in the amount of $103,094.50. Upon a motion made by
<br />Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, Change
<br />Order No. 1 (Final) was approved and executed.
<br />REOUESTS REFERRED:
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq
<br />And carried, the following requests`were referred to the
<br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and
<br />recommendation:
<br />- OF SAINT JOSEPH'S MEDICAL CENTER TO CONDUCT 11TH ANNUAL
<br />SPORTSMED 5K RACE, 4K WALK, 1 MILE FUN RUN, WHEELCHAIR RACE
<br />AND 10K RACE - OCTOBER 6, 1991
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Rod Donigan, Director,
<br />Sportsmed 10K Weekend and Ms. Nancy Dressen, Race Director,
<br />Saint Joseph's Medical Center, 801 East LaSalle, P.O. Box
<br />1935, South Bend, Indiana, advised that St. Joseph's Medical
<br />Center is requesting permission to hold the Eleventh Annual
<br />Sportsmed 10K on Sunday, October 6, 1991. As last year, they
<br />will have a 10K, 10K Wheelchair, 5K, 1 Mile Fun Run and a
<br />non-competitive 4K Walk with the earliest event beginning at
<br />1.00 p.m. and the 10K race beginning at 2:00 p.m. Submitted
<br />with the request were the various routes for the above
<br />referred to events.
<br />- TO CLOSE HAWTHORNE DRIVE, FROM COLFAX TO WASHINGTON, FOR
<br />NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - AUGUST 10, 1991
<br />Mrs. Melissa DeClercq, 130 North Hawthorne Drive, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, submitted to the Board an Application for Use of and
<br />Blocking of Access to Public Right -of -Way for a Party or
<br />Similar Event, requesting that Hawthorne Drive, from Colfax
<br />to Washington, be closed on Saturday, August 10, 1991, from
<br />5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for a block party.
<br />- TO CONDUCT A UNITY WALK - OCTOBER 20, 1991
<br />Ms. Ann L. Maus, Coordinator, Coalition for 'the Unity Walk,
<br />601 West LaSalle 4B2, South Bend, Indiana, advised that they
<br />would like permission to conduct a Unity Walk on Sunday,
<br />October 20, 1991 from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Ms. Maus stated
<br />that the purpose of the Walk will be to allow citizens to
<br />come together in support of a unified community while
<br />recognizing diversity. The Walk will begin and end at Leeper
<br />Park where they will also be holding a short program either
<br />immediately before or after the Walk. Submitted with the
<br />request was the route to be utilized for this event.
<br />- OF GRACE A.M.E. ZION CHURCH TO CLOSE VASSAR, FROM CLEVELAND
<br />TO BLAINE AND BLAINE FROM CALIFORNIA TO VASSAR, IN
<br />CONJUNCTION WITH FUN FAIR - AUGUST 3, 1991
<br />Ms. Luella Harris and Ms. LaVonne Bibb, Chairpersons, Grace
<br />A.M.E. Zion Church, 1211 Vassar Avenue, South Bend, Indiana,
<br />advised that they are again making plans for their church Fun
<br />Fair and as in the past would like permission to close
<br />Vassar, from Cleveland to Blaine, and Blaine, from Calfornia
<br />to Vassar, on August 3, 1991 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in
<br />conjunction with this event.
