REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 17, 1991 <br />- OF CITY AWNING TO INSTALL CANOPY AT 1510 SOUTH MICHIGAN <br />STREET (PDH OFFICE PRODUCTS) <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Robert L. Hinsch, Sales <br />Representative, City Awning of South Bend, 1835 South <br />Franklin Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to <br />install a back -lit canopy at PDH Office Products, 1510 South <br />Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana. Mr. Hinsch submitted <br />with the request a drawing of the canopy indicating its size <br />and dimensions. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the above requests be referred <br />to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND URBAN ENTERPRISE ASSOCIATION THAT <br />THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ACT AS AGENT FOR PURPOSES OF SOLICITING <br />QUOTATIONS AND AWARDING AND ADMINISTERING A CONTRACT FOR THE <br />CLEANING AND DISPOSAL OF PIT WASTES FROM THE TORRINGTON FACILITY <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Pamela Meyer, UEA Program Director, <br />1200 County -City Building, South Bend, Indiana, advised that at <br />its meeting held on June 12, 1991, the South Bend Urban <br />Enterprise Association, Inc., voted to authorize the Board of <br />Public Works to act as its agent for purposes of soliciting <br />quotations and awarding and administering a contract for the <br />cleaning and disposal of pit wastes from the former Torrington_ <br />facility that the UEA has recently purchased. She indicated that <br />her letter shall serve as the formal request of the UEA that the <br />Board accept this request and designation and proceed, at the <br />appropriate time, with the solicitations of quotations. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be approved. Mrs. <br />DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUESTS: <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the following requests and approval is <br />recommended. Motions approving the requests are as follows: <br />- REQUEST TO ST.. JOSEPH COUNTY LIBRARY TO INSTALL TWELVE (12) <br />DIRECTIONAL SIGNS <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. <br />DeClercq and carried, the request of the St. Joseph County <br />Library as received by the Board on August 27, 1990 was <br />approved. <br />REQUEST OF KIDS KLUB FROM CHIPPEWA HEIGHTS WESLEYAN CHURCH TO <br />CONDUCT PARADE - JULY 20, 1991 <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. <br />Humphreys and carried, the above referred to request, which <br />was submitted to the Board on June 10, 1991, was approved. <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE WILBER, FROM MAR UETTE TO PORTAGE, FOR <br />NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY -,JULY 4, 1991 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. <br />DeClercq and carried, the request to close Wilber Street for <br />a block party, as submitted on June 3, 1991, was approved. <br />NEIGHBORHOOD B <br />Mrs. DeClercq <br />request, which was submitted on ,Tune 10, 1991, <br />)De approved.
