<br />The bid from Safety and Environmental Resources, Inc. for the one
<br />(1) hour units was as follows:
<br />Three (3) Units - $1,215.00
<br />Chief Taylor noted that except for two (2) 1-hour units, the bids
<br />were for the exact number of units offered. He therefore
<br />recommended that the Board accept all bids as received.
<br />Additionally, he requested that the Board give him permission to
<br />dispose of the last two (2) units by whatever means possible and
<br />at the best offer.
<br />Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the Chief's
<br />recommendations be accepted and the bids be awarded. Ms.
<br />Humphreys seconded the motion which carried.

<br />- REQUEST OF JOHN ADAMS HIGH SCHOOL FOR REMOVAL OF "NO PARKING"
<br />ON TWYCKENHAM DRIVE AND WALL STREET IN CONJUNCTION WITH SENIOR
<br />HONORS RECOGNITION PROGRAM - JUNE 3, 1991
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. William M. Przybysz, Principal,
<br />John Adams High School, 808 South Twyckenham Drive, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, requested that the ban on "no parking" on Twyckenham
<br />Drive and Wall Street near John Adams High School, be lifted
<br />from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 1991. Mr.
<br />Przybysz stated that the school is holding their Senior Honors
<br />Recognition Program and many parents will be attending.
<br />REQUEST TO CLOSE EAST WAYNE STREET SOUTH, FROM THE ISLAND TO
<br />SUNNYSIDE, FOR NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - JUNE 1, 1991
<br />Ms. Michelle Shakour, 1218 East Wayne South, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, submitted to the Board an Application for Use of and
<br />Blocking of Access to Public Right -of -Way for a Party or
<br />Similar Event, requesting that Sunnyside, from the Island to
<br />Sunnyside, be closed on Saturday, June 1, 1991 from 3:00 p.m.
<br />to 8:00 p.m. for a neighborhood block party.
<br />-- REQUEST OF NEAR NORTHWEST NEIGHBORHOOD, INC. TO ACQUIRE
<br />CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 1225 VAN BUREN
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. John W. Oxian, Near Northwest
<br />Neighborhood, Inc., P.O. Box 1132, South Bend, Indiana, advised
<br />that on behalf of Near Northwest Neighborhood, Inc., he would
<br />like to inquire on how they may purchase and/or have donated to
<br />their non-profit neighborhood association the property located
<br />at 1225 Van Buren (Key #18-1080-3344). Mr. Oxian stated that
<br />they would like to obtain this property as part of a land bank
<br />for future home construction, gardening or for upkeep and
<br />beautification.
<br />REQUEST OF FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH TO CLOSE ALLEY BEHIND
<br />CHURCH IN CONJUNCTION WITH CHURCH FUNDRAISER - JUNE 29, 1991
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Allan D. Byrne, Pastor, First
<br />United Methodist Church, 333 North Main Street, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, advised that they would like permission to have the
<br />north/south alley and east/west alley that bounds their church
<br />blocked off on Saturday, June 29, 1991 for the purpose of
<br />holding a major fundraiser for the church. Pastor Byrne stated
<br />that the fundraiser will be called the Main Street Event and
<br />will take place in the church parking lot.
