REGULAR MEETING MAY 13, 1991 <br />OF MADISON HOME SCHOOL ORGANIZATION TO CLOSE PARK LANE <br />BETWEEN LAFAYETTE BOULEVARD AND MAIN STREET, IN CONJUNCTION <br />WITH ANNUAL ICE CREAM SOCIAL - MAY 31, 1991 <br />Ms. Kathie Carter, MHSO Co -Chairman, Madison Home School <br />Organization, 832 North Lafayette Boulevard, South Bend, <br />Indiana, advised that Madison School will be having their <br />annual Ice Cream Social on Friday, May 31, 1991 from 5:00 p.m. <br />to 7:00 p.m. As in the past, they are requesting that Park <br />Lane, from Lafayette Boulevard to Main Street, be closed in <br />conjunction with this event. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the above two (2) requests were referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF ROBERT BLUM LODGE NO. 278 TO CONDUCT <br />PROCESSION FROM BENDIX DRIVE TO CITY CEMETERY - MAY 19, 1991 <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Walt Pellow, Committee Chairman, <br />Robert Blum Lodge No. 278, I.O.O.F., 1625 North Bendix Drive, <br />P.O. Box 3600, South Bend, Indiana, advised that every third <br />Sunday of May the Oddfellow Lodge honors Schuyler Colfax for the <br />work he did in Oddfellows. This year members will meet at the <br />Lodge on Bendix Drive at 1:30 p.m. on May 19, 1991, for a <br />procession to the City Cemetery. Mr. Pellow stated that the <br />vehichles will have flags and they would like to stay together <br />with a police escort. Mr. Pellow noted that both Mayors of South <br />Bend and Mishawaka have proclaimed May 19th as Schuyler Colfax <br />Day. Mr. Leszczynski noted that due to the closeness of this <br />event, he would make a motion that this annual request be <br />approved subject to the appropriate review and favorable <br />recommendations by the necessary City departments and bureaus. <br />Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF PROPOSALS FOR <br />DEBT COLLECTION SERVICES FOR PAST DUE AMBULANCE ACCOUNTS FOR 19 <br />In a letter to the Board, Fire Chief Luther Taylor advised that <br />the South Bend Fire Department E.M.S. Division utilizes the <br />91 <br />services of a collection agency for past due ambulance accounts. <br />Therefore, he requested that the Board solicit Proposals for debt <br />collection services for past due ambulance accounts for the year <br />1991. Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that this request be <br />Approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS FOR TWELVE <br />(12) DUMP BODIES AND TWELVE (12) HOIST ASSEMBLIES <br />Mr. Phil St. Clair, Director, Division of Equipment Services, <br />requested that the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for <br />twelve (12) 10' x 7' dump bodies and twelve (12) hoist <br />assemblies. Mr. St. Clair noted that this equipment is to be <br />installed on current Street Department single axle trucks as part <br />of the Truck Rebuild Program. Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that <br />the request be approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF THE REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION THAT THE BOARD OF <br />PUBLIC WORKS ACT AS AGENT FOR THE REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br />REGARDING THE DEMOLITION OF THE COLFAX THEATRE PROPERTY <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Cleo Hickey, Downtown Project <br />Manager, Redevelopment Commission, advised that on behalf of the <br />Commission, she is requesting that the Board of Public Works act <br />as agent for the Commission regarding the demolition of the <br />Colfax Theatre Property. Ms. Hickey further advised that Mr. Ken <br />Herceg will be retained as engineer for the project and will <br />
