JOE VALLEY WATERCOLOR SOCIETY FOR ASSISTANCE TO <br />EASE TRAFFIC CONGESTION IN CONJUNCTION WITH LEEPER PARK ART <br />FAIR - JUNE 15-16, 1991 <br />Ms. Miriam Wittkopf, Chairman, St. Joe Valley Watercolor <br />Society, 16520 Bennington Court, Granger, Indiana, advised that <br />the St. Joe Valley Watercolor Society, sponsors of the Leeper <br />Park Art Fair, have obtained permission to use Leeper Park for <br />their annual Art Fair on June 15-16, 1991. <br />They are now requesting assistance to ease the traffic <br />congestion on the days of the fair and would like Riverside <br />Drive, on the north side of Leeper Park, changed to one-way <br />west and Park Lane on the south side of Leeper Park, made <br />one-way east. Additionally, Ms. Wittkopf noted that it would be <br />helpful if one (1) side of Riverside Drive and one (1) side of <br />Park Lane could be posted NO PARKING which would result in <br />parking on only one (1) side of each of these streets. <br />REQUEST OF VFW TO CONDUCT ANNUAL POPPY DAY SALES - MAY 10-11, <br />1991 <br />Mr. George Grenert, Quartermaster, Veterans of Foreign Wars of <br />the U.S., South Bend post No. 1167, 1047 Lincolnway East, South <br />Bend, Indiana, requested permission to conduct their annual <br />Poppy Day Sale on the public sidewalks throughout the City on <br />Friday, May 10, 1991 and Saturday, May 11, 1991. The purpose <br />of the sale is to secure funds for welfare and relief work <br />among widows and orphans of veterans. <br />REQUEST OF UNION STATION TO ERECT CANOPY <br />Mr. Kevin M. Smith, Union Station, 310 West South Street, South <br />Bend, Indiana, submitted a letter to the Board informing them <br />that he proposes an additional entrance into the Union Station <br />project. The plans call for a new lobby to be put in <br />immediately west of the existing passenger depot. The <br />materials used for the construction will be granite, glass and <br />metal framework. Both the design and materials have been <br />presented before the Design Review Board on April 18, 1991 and <br />have been approved. Therefore, at this time Mr. Smith <br />submitted to the board a site and elevation drawing of the <br />proposed entrance. The steel canopy that will protrude from <br />above the door will be at the same elevation as the two (2) <br />pre-existing canopies. <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the above requests were referred to the appropriate <br />City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUESTS: <br />REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND COMMUNITY SCHOOL CORPORATION FOR <br />SPECIAL PARKING RATE IN CONJUNCTION WITH PROGRAM AT MORRIS <br />CIVIC - MAY 15, 1991 <br />Ms. Katherine Humphreys, Director, Administration and Finance, <br />advised that a request has been received from the South Bend <br />Community School Corporation to receive the special parking <br />rate at the Colfax Parking Garage in conjunction with their <br />upcoming "Achievers All" program which will be held at the <br />Morris Civic Auditorium on May 15, 1991 and she recommends <br />approval. <br />1 <br />1 <br />
