Mr. Moorman also advised that the Tootsie Roll drive is a program in which they hand out tootsie rolls to anyone who will accept one and in turn they accept any donation that is offered. REQUEST OF ST. JOE VALLEY WATERCOLOR SOCIETY FOR ASSISTANCE TO EASE TRAFFIC CONGESTION IN CONJUNCTION WITH LEEPER PARK ART FAIR - JUNE 15-16, 1991 Ms. Miriam Wittkopf, Chairman, St. Joe Valley Watercolor Society, 16520 Bennington Court, Granger, Indiana, advised that the St. Joe Valley Watercolor Society, sponsors of the Leeper Park Art Fair, have obtained permission to use Leeper Park for their annual Art Fair on June 15-16, 1991. They are now requesting assistance to ease the traffic congestion on the days of the fair and would like Riverside Drive, on the north side of Leeper Park, changed to one-way west and Park Lane on the south side of Leeper Park, made one-way east. Additionally, Ms. Wittkopf noted that it would be helpful if one (1) side of Riverside Drive and one (1) side of Park Lane could be posted NO PARKING which would result in parking on only one (1) side of each of these streets. REQUEST OF VFW TO CONDUCT ANNUAL POPPY DAY SALES - MAY 10-11, 1991 Mr. George Grenert, Quartermaster, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S., South Bend post No. 1167, 1047 Lincolnway East, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to conduct their annual Poppy Day Sale on the public sidewalks throughout the City on Friday, May 10, 1991 and Saturday, May 11, 1991. The purpose of the sale is to secure funds for welfare and relief work among widows and orphans of veterans. REQUEST OF UNION STATION TO ERECT CANOPY Mr. Kevin M. Smith, Union Station, 310 West South Street, South Bend, Indiana, submitted a letter to the Board informing them that he proposes an additional entrance into the Union Station project. The plans call for a new lobby to be put in immediately west of the existing passenger depot. The materials used for the construction will be granite, glass and metal framework. Both the design and materials have been presented before the Design Review Board on April 18, 1991 and have been approved. Therefore, at this time Mr. Smith submitted to the board a site and elevation drawing of the proposed entrance. The steel canopy that will protrude from above the door will be at the same elevation as the two (2) pre-existing canopies. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the above requests were referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. APPROVE REQUESTS: REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND COMMUNITY SCHOOL CORPORATION FOR SPECIAL PARKING RATE IN CONJUNCTION WITH PROGRAM AT MORRIS CIVIC - MAY 15, 1991 Ms. Katherine Humphreys, Director, Administration and Finance, advised that a request has been received from the South Bend Community School Corporation to receive the special parking rate at the Colfax Parking Garage in conjunction with their upcoming "Achievers All" program which will be held at the Morris Civic Auditorium on May 15, 1991 and she recommends approval. 1 1
