JOSEPH COUNTY MEMORIAL SOCIETY TO CLOSE WASHINGTON <br />STREET, BETWEEN MAIN AND LAFAYETTE. IN CONJUNCTION WITH <br />MEMORIAL DAY ACTIVITIES - MAY 27, 1991 <br />Ms. Virginia Hanson, Secretary, St. Joseph County Memorial <br />Society, 19459 Orchard Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested <br />the closing of Washington Street, from Main to Lafayette, for <br />approximately one (1) hour on Monday, May 27, 1991, beginning <br />at 2:00 p.m. in conjunction with Memorial Day activities to be <br />conducted in front of the Sailors and Soliders Monument on the <br />courthouse lawn. <br />OF TEMPLE BETH-EL TO CONDUCT FUN RUN AND 5K WALK - MAY 5 1991 <br />OR MAY 12, 1991 <br />Mr. Richard Tucker, Chairman, Temple Beth -El, 205 West Madison <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to have a Fun <br />Run on Sunday, May 5, 1991 or Sunday, May 12, 1991 in the <br />downtown area. Mr. Tucker advised that this run is being <br />organized as part of the Temple Beth -Ells 85th Anniversary <br />celebration and is not planned to be a competitive event. The <br />run would begin at 10:00 a.m. to coincide with their Sunday <br />School and would be completed by 12:00 noon. <br />The preferred route for the 8.5K Run would be from the Temple's <br />parking lot north on Lafayette Boulevard through Leeper Park <br />along Riverside Drive to Angela Boulevard. Then, it would <br />cross the bridge to North Shore Drive, back to Niles Avenue and <br />the East Race. The final leg would be through Howard Park <br />across the river and along the boardwalk to LaSalle and then <br />back to Temple Beth -El. <br />Also planned is a 5KM Walk following the same route as the <br />fun run except eliminating the Riverside Drive -North Shore <br />section. <br />In conclusion, Mr. Tucker noted that the event would not be <br />open to the public and therefore would be limited to probably <br />less than two hundred (200) individuals. <br />OF KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS TO CONDUCT ANNUAL TOOTSIE ROLL DRIVE <br />ON THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY IN FRONT OF THE DOWNTOWN OSCO DRUG <br />STORE <br />Mr. Martin J. Moorman, Chairman, St. Joe Valley Knights of <br />Columbus Councils, advised that the St. Joseph Valley Chapter, <br />Knights of Columbus, consisting of ten (10) local councils, <br />requests permission to conduct their annual Tootsie Roll Drive <br />on Friday, May 10, 1991 and Saturday, May 11, 1991 in front of <br />the Osco Drug Store located downtown. Mr. Moorman stated that <br />they have participated in this charitable program for the past <br />thirteen (13) years to assist agencies who work with the <br />mentally retarded here in St. Joseph County. All soliciting is <br />done by members or families of the Knights of Columbus in front <br />
