REGULAR MEETING <br />NOVEMBER 16, 1992 <br />taxpayers in the City of South Bend, the certificate of the <br />Auditor, the renovation plans and costs, as well as authorize the <br />Building Commissioner to file with the Consolidated Building <br />Board and Common Council Resolutions for their approval, and set <br />a Public Hearing date of November 30, 1992 regarding this <br />matter. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried. <br />Following is Resolution No. 44-1992 which was adopted: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 44-1992 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />DECLARING ITS INTENT TO LEASE <br />OFFICE SPACE AT 205 WEST JEFFERSON BOULEVARD, <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE USE OF THE <br />ST. JOSEPH COUNTY/SOUTH BEND BUILDING DEPARTMENT <br />WHEREAS, by interlocal agreement, St. Joseph County and the <br />City of South Bend consolidated their building departments <br />effective January 1, 1992, and the staff of the City building <br />department joined the staff of the County building department in <br />their office at Room 732, County -City Building, South Bend, <br />Indiana; and <br />WHEREAS, the space currently utilized by the St. Joseph <br />County/South Bend Building Department ("Building Department") at <br />Room 732, County -City Building, is insufficient to accommodate <br />the needs of the consolidated Building Department and to provide <br />for effective and efficient operation of said Department; and <br />WHEREAS, the Building Commissioner has recommended that a <br />larger office space be found for the Building Department so as to <br />permit the more efficient operation of said Department; and <br />WHEREAS, there is not sufficient office space available to <br />allow for the relocation of the Building Department within the <br />County -City Building; and <br />WHEREAS, the Building Commissioner has recommended that the <br />offices of the Building Department be relocated to Suite 100, 205 <br />West Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, which contains <br />approximately three thousand five hundred (3,500) square feet, an <br />area sufficient to accommodate the needs of the Building <br />Department; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works of the City of South <br />Bend, Indiana, on November 16, 1992, received a petition <br />("Petition") signed by at least fifty (50) taxpayers of the City <br />of South Bend, requesting that the Board lease office space at <br />Suite 100, 205 West Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana <br />("Premises"), for the use of the Building Department, from <br />Jefferson Boulevard Partnership of South Bend, Indiana, for a <br />term of two (2) years, with a one (1) year extension at the <br />City's option, with an annual rental not to exceed Twenty-four <br />Thousand Dollars (124,000.00) the first year, Twenty-five <br />Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($25,200.00) the second year, and <br />Twenty-six Thousand Four Hundred Dollars ($26,400.00) the third <br />year, if the option for the third year is exercised by the City; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works also received, on <br />November 16, 1992, a certificate of the St. Joseph County <br />Auditor, certifying that the verifier of the Petition and at <br />least fifty (50) of the signatories of the Petition are taxpayers <br />of property located within the corporate limits of the City of <br />South Bend; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works also received, on <br />
