�37 REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 26, 1992 Joseph's Medical Center, has fulfilled Resolution requirements and the appropriate Agreement, for the above referred to events, has been submitted for approval. It is noted that on August 24, 1992, the Board of Public Works approved the date for this event subject to the sponsor meeting all Resolution requirements. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. Mueller, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the Agreement was approved and executed. APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - DE-ICING MATERIALS In a letter to the Board, Mr. Sam Hensley, Director, Division of Transportation, requested that the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for the following materials: 1. Sodium Chloride 12,000 tons 2. Calcium Chloride Sand 5,000 tons 3. Calcium Chloride Slag Sand 5,000 tons Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be approved. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. REQUEST FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE - 1006 E. WAYNE - REFERRED In a letter to the Board, Ms. Joni Aldridge, 1006 East Wayne Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that she is disabled and would like the parking space in front of her residence designated as a handicapped parking space. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. Mrs. Mueller seconded the motion which carried. APPROVE REQUEST TO REJECT BIDS AND READVERTISE - TWO (2) TANDEM AXLE TRUCKS WITH TRADE-INS Mr. Matthew L. Chlebowski, Interim Director, Division of Equipment Services, advised members of the Board that he recommends that the Board reject all bids received on September 21, 1992, for two (2) tandem axle dump trucks as there were several errors in the specifications that were not found until after the bids were received. Therefore, Mr. Chlebowski asked that the Board reject all bids previously received and approve the readvertisment for this equipment pursuant to new revised specifications. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the bids received on September 21, 1992, for the tandem axle dump trucks be rejected and the equipment be readvertised. Mrs. Mueller seconded the motion which carried. APPROVE REQUESTS: - OF RILEY HIGH SCHOOL TO CONDUCT PARADE - OCTOBER 31 1992 - OF NORTHERN INDIANA CAB DRIVERS ASSOCIATION TO CONDUCT WALK - OCTOBER 29, 1992 Mr. Leszczynski advised that the request of Riley High School to conduct a parade on October 31, 1992, which was submitted to the Board on October 5, 1992, has been reviewed by City departments and bureaus and recommended for approval. Additionally, Mr. Michael Alford, Vice -President, Northern Indiana Cab Drivers Association, 19844 1/2 Hildebrand Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to conduct a Walk on Thursday, October 29, 1992 beginning at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Alford stated that participation is open to anyone who has been a victim of violence either directly or indirectly through family members or friends. The Walk will begin at the west end of the county courthouse, proceed down Lafayette Boulevard south to Western Avenue, Western Avenue east across the Jefferson bridge to Howard Park where a brief candlelight ceremony will be held at
