REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 10, 1992 <br />6 <br />1 <br />were moved over to office space at the old First Source Bank <br />Building at 205 West Jefferson Boulevard. 'The Housing <br />Development Corporation entered into the lease for this space. <br />At this time, because the program will become part of the <br />Department of Economic Development and the City, the Department <br />of Economic Development has begun the process of entering into a <br />lease for a period of three (3) years at the sum of $20,000.00 <br />which includes the $13,000.00 remodeling cost that the owner will <br />pay. The $13,000.00 is included in the amount of rent to be <br />paid. <br />Ms. Meyer reiterated that this program will become a City <br />operation and therefore the Department must go through the legal <br />process to enter into a lease for the office space. <br />Board Attorney and Member Mary H. Mueller noted that the <br />Resolution submitted today indicates the.Board's intent to lease <br />the office space, puts on file for public inspection the lease <br />and renovation costs and sets a Public Hearing for 9:30 a.m., <br />August 31, 1992. Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the <br />Resolution as submitted be adopted. Mrs. Mueller seconded the <br />motion which carried and the following Resolution No. 30-1992 was <br />adopted: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 30-1992 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF <br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND INDIANA DECLARING ITS <br />INTENT TO LEASE OFFICE SPACE AT 205 WEST <br />FFERSON BOULEVARD, SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE <br />USE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, DEPARTMENT OF <br />ECONOMIC <br />OF <br />WHEREAS, the offices of the South Bend Department of Economic <br />Development, located at 1200 County -City Building, South Bend, <br />Indiana, provide insufficient space to accommodate the Department <br />of Redevelopment, Division of Business Assistance and <br />Development, Division of CDBG Program and Financial Management, <br />and the Division of Planning and Neighborhood Development, and to <br />allow for effective and efficient operations of these various <br />divisions of the Department of Economic Development; and <br />WHEREAS, the Director of the City of South Bend, Department <br />of Economic Development, has recommended that the Division of <br />Planning and Neighborhood Development, comprising six (6) <br />full-time,staff members and one (1) part-time intern, relocate <br />its offices; and <br />WHEREAS, no alternate office space exists for the Division of <br />Planning and Neighborhood Development within the County -City <br />Building; and <br />WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Economic <br />Development has recommended that the Division of Planning and <br />Neighborhood Development relocate its offices to Suite 416, 205 <br />West Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, on August 10, 1992, received a petition ("Petition") <br />signed by fifty (50) taxpayers of the City of South Bend, <br />requesting that the Board lease office space at Suite 416, 205 <br />West Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, ("Premises"), for <br />the use of the City of South Bend, Department of Economic <br />Development, Division of Planning and Neighborhood Development, <br />from the Jefferson Street Partnership of South Bend, Indiana, for <br />a term of three (3) years, with the annual rental of said <br />
