REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 16, 1992 <br />east/west direction. It is requested that the barricades be in <br />place from late March, 1992 until October 1992. Mr. Miller noted <br />that the barricades are required to allow safe construction <br />vehicle access on and off of the site. Vehicles will be entering <br />the site from Colfax Avenue in the south. The sidewalk should be <br />closed to maintain pedestrian safety. The proposed barricades <br />will allow a higher degree of assurance there will be no conflict <br />between construction activity and pedestrians. <br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by <br />Mrs. Mueller and carried, the above request was referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY DEMOCRATIC CENTRAL COMMITTEE <br />TO UTILIZE FIRE STATIONS FOR VOTING PURPOSES - MAY 5, 1992 AND <br />NOVEMBER 3, 1992 <br />Mr. Kenneth P. Fedder, Chairman, St. Joseph County Democratic <br />Central Committee, P.O. Mrs. <br />Mueller seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUESTS REFERRED: <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Caldwell <br />and carried, the following requests were referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation: <br />- REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND AREA CRIME STOPPERS TO CONDUCT 5TH <br />ANNUAL CRIME STOPPERS MOONLIGHT WALK - JUNE 14, 1992 <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Paul R. Obermeyer, Walk <br />Director, South Bend Area Crime Stoppers, Inc., 701 West <br />Sample Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to <br />conduct the Fifth Annual Crime Stoppers Moonlight Walk on <br />Sunday, June 14, 1992 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. <br />Mr. Obermeyer noted that Coveleski Stadium has once again <br />kindly granted them permission to utilize the stadium <br />facilities to coordinate their walk activity and Mikki <br />Dobski, Director, Office of Community Affairs, is also <br />involved in this event. Mr. Obermyer submitted with his <br />request the proposed route of the Walk. <br />- REQUEST OF SHELTERCOM TO INSTALL APPROXIMATELY 45-50 BUS <br />SHELTERS ON THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY <br />Mr. Robert K. Pickering, ShelterCom, P.O. Box 6667, South <br />Bend, Indiana, submitted to the Board a Proposal to install a <br />bus passenger shelter system on the public right-of-way <br />throughout the City of South Bend. Mr. Pickering noted that <br />plans call for the installation of approximately forty-five <br />(45) to fifty (50) shelters throughout the City. Full <br />implementation of the proposal is projected to take two (2) <br />to three (3) years. ShelterCom proposes to erect bus <br />shelters at those locations that are mutually agreed upon by <br />1 <br />
