<br />APPROVE REQUEST OF THE REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION FOR THE BOARD TO
<br />ACT AS AGENT IN REGARDS TO PHASE III STUDEBAKER CORRIDOR
<br />DEMOLITION PROJECT
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. K.C. Pocius, Project Manager,
<br />Department of Economic Development, advised that the
<br />Redevelopment Commission requests that the Board act as agent for
<br />them regading Phase III of the Studebaker Corridor demolition
<br />project. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be
<br />approved. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried.
<br />REQUESTS REFERRED
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Mueller
<br />and carried, the following requests were referred to the
<br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and
<br />recommendation-
<br />- OF CITY AWNING TO INSTALL AWNINGS AT 109 W. WASHINGTON AND
<br />110 NORTH MAIN STREET
<br />Mr. Hank Craft, City Awning of South Bend, 1731 South
<br />Franklin Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to
<br />install fabric awnings at R.J.'s Espresso, 109 West
<br />Washington, South Bend, Indiana, and Louie's Deli, 110 North
<br />Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. Mr. Craft advised that the
<br />downtown redevelopment committee has approved the fabric,
<br />color, lettering, design and etc. Mr. Craft noted that the
<br />awnings will be installed eight feet (8') six inches (61')
<br />from sidewalk level to the bottom of the awning. Mr. Craft
<br />submitted with the request a diagram of the awning for each
<br />location.

<br />Ms. Katy Gray, Regional Director, American Diabetes
<br />Association Indiana Affiliate, Inc., Northwest Region, 115
<br />South Lafayette Boulevard, Suite 407, South Bend, Indiana,
<br />requested permission to conduct the 1992 Walktoberfest on
<br />Sunday, October 4, 1992, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Ms. Gray
<br />submitted with the request the proposed route for this Walk.
<br />She advised that approximately four hundred (400) individuals
<br />are expected to participate and that they intend to stay off
<br />the streets except when crossing and will walk only on the
<br />sidewalks along the route.
<br />- OF GIBSON-LEWIS TO PLACE A DUMPSTER ON PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY
<br />UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 1992
<br />Mr. Don Berta, Vice -President, Gibson -Lewis, Inc., 1001 West
<br />llth Street, P.O. Box 488, Mishawaka, Indiana 46546,
<br />requested permission to locate a dumpster on the public
<br />right-of-way on Navarre Street at Memorial Hospital until
<br />December 31, 1992. Mr. Berta noted that this dumpster is
<br />required in conjunction with the project they are performing
<br />on the 5th floor of the hospital.
<br />REQUEST OF THE AUSTIN COMPANY TO CLOSE THE SIDEWALK ALONG COLFAX
<br />AVENUE DIRECTLY TO THE SOUTH OF THE SOUTH BEND TRIBUNE IN
<br />CONJUNCTION WITH MAILROOM ADDITION PROJECT UNTIL OCTOBER
<br />1992 - REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Curt Miller, Project Manager, The
<br />Austin Company, 3700 Mayfield Road, Cleveland, Ohio, requested
<br />the closure of the sidewalk along Colfax Avenue directly to the
<br />south of the South Bend Tribune in conjunction with Phase One:
<br />Mailroom Addition Project. Mr. Miller submitted drawings which
<br />indicate that proposed barricades would be built in front of the
<br />Tribune's property and prohibit access along the sidewalk in the
