Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that this request <br />be approved. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. <br />Additionally, Mr. Kruszynski asked that the Board advertise for <br />the receipt of bids for trucking and hauling services required by <br />the City Department of Environmental Services, in conjunction <br />with the City's Land Application Program. This service will be <br />required at various dates throughout the 1992 calendar year to <br />haul belt pressed waste water sludge from the City's Organic <br />Resource Facility, 4340 Old Cleveland Road to various sites <br />within a twenty (20) mile radius of the Organic Resource <br />Facility. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that this request be <br />approved. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND TRIBUNE TO CONDUCT 8TH ANNUAL SUNBURST <br />MARATHON, 5K AND 10K FOOT RACES - JUNE 6, 1992 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Joyce Fox, Events Coordinator, <br />South Bend Tribune, 225 West Colfax, South Bend, Indiana, <br />requested permission to conduct the 8th Annual Sunburst Marathon <br />and related 5K and 10K foot races on Saturday, June 6, 1992. <br />Memorial Hospital of South Bend and WSBT-TV are joining the <br />Tribune as major sponsors of the 1992 Sunburst Events. <br />Mrs. Fox noted that all the races will start on the campus of the <br />University of Notre Dame and finish in the university's football <br />stadium. The Marathon will begin at 6:00 a.m. and the last <br />Participant will finish at approximately 11:30 a.m. The 5K and <br />10K events will -start between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. and finish <br />no later than 9:00 a.m. <br />Mrs. Fox further informed the Board that the Sunburst Events are <br />strictly not -for -profit events that are held solely at the <br />expense of the sponsors. The South Bend Tribune, Memorial <br />Hospital and WSBT sponsor Sunburst as an event that is good for <br />the community. Sunburst provides an activity for area residents, <br />promotes tourism in the area and also serves as a fund raiser for <br />a local charity. In addition, each year a portion of the race <br />fees is given to various community projects in South Bend or <br />Mishawaka. This year, the race application will ask participants <br />to make a donation to the South Bend Park Department for use in <br />helping to extend the new River Walk to the Mishawaka border. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that this request be referred to <br />the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUESTS APPROVED: <br />- REQUEST TO CONDUCT THE WORLD'S LARGEST GARAGE SALE - JUNE 61 <br />1992 <br />- REQUEST OF MICHIANA WATERSHED, INC. TO CONDUCT 22ND ANNUAL <br />RIVER RUN - MAY 9, 1992 <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to requests which were <br />submitted to the Board on January 20, 1992 and approval is <br />recommended. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the <br />recommendations be accepted and the requests be approved. Mrs. <br />DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE EXCAVATION BOND <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Engineering Department has <br />recommended that the Board approve the Excavation Bond for A & R <br />Septic Tank Company, Inc., effective February 17, 1992. Mr. <br />Leszczynski made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and <br />the bond be approved. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />
