REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 3, 1992 <br />Valley American Bank and Trust Company. Mr. Caldwell made a <br />motion that the form as submitted be approved and executed. Mrs. <br />DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE INSURANCE STATEMENT <br />Board Attorney Mary H. Meuller advised that the Insurance <br />Statement submitted today by Mrs. C.J. Cartwright-Cowsert, Safety <br />and Risk Manager, is in regards to a 1992 Dodge Dakota pick-up <br />truck which is leased by Century Center from Society Lease. It <br />is noted that this Insurance Statement was requested from Society <br />Lease. Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the Insurance Statement <br />be approved and executed. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />REQUESTS REFERRED: <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Caldwell <br />and carried, the following requests were referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation: <br />- OF LULAC COUNCIL 5001 TO CONDUCT PARADE - SEPTEMBER 12 1992 <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Michael Salcedo, D.P.M., c/o <br />Ambulatory Foot Care Clinic, 727 East Jefferson Boulevard, <br />South Bend, Indiana, advised that the members of LULAC <br />Council 5001 request permission to conduct a parade on <br />September 12, 1992. Mr. Salcedo stated that the goal of this <br />parade is to join the Hispanic community in celebrating <br />Mexican Independence Day which is celebrated annually on <br />September 16th and represents the date that Mexico became <br />independent from Spain. Mr. Salcedo further stated that the <br />parade would begin at approximately 11:00 a.m. in the Western <br />Avenue region of South Bend. <br />- OF COALITION FOR UNITY TO CONDUCT 2ND ANNUAL WALK - SEPTEMBER <br />27, 1992 <br />Ms. Charlotte Pfeifer, DuComb Center, 1015 East Madison <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised the Board that The <br />Coalition for Unity requests permission to conduct its Second <br />Annual Walk for Unity on Sunday, September 27, 1992. <br />The purpose of the Walk is to allow citizens an opportunity <br />to come together in support of a unified community while <br />recognizing our differences. The Walk will begin and end at <br />Leeper Park where they will also hold a brief program both <br />before and after the Walk. Ms. Pfeifer stated that the above <br />events will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. <br />Ms. Pfeifer submitted with the request a proposed route. She <br />noted that they will stay on the sidewalks except for coming <br />south on Michigan Street in which case they will walk in the <br />street. <br />1 <br />- FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE AT 1331 W. DUNHAM <br />In a letter to the Board, Agnes and Stanley Zablocki, 1331 <br />West Dunham Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested that the <br />parking space in front of their residence be designated as a <br />handicapped parking space. They noted that they are 85 and <br />89 years old, respectively, and no longer own a vehicle. <br />However, they rely on relatives or taxi cabs for <br />transportation and other residents of the area have been <br />parking in front of their home making access by these <br />individuals difficult. <br />
