REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 20, 1993 needed by the City, are obsolete or unfit for the purpose for which they were intended, and have an estimated value of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) or more. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said property be sold at a public auction, conducted by an auctioneer licensed under Indiana Code 25-6.1, after advertising the property for sale, in accordance with Indiana Code 5-3-1. Parmerlee, Clerk AWARD BID - SALE OF ONE (1) 1985 PIERCE MIDI PUMPER Fire Chief Luther Taylor advised that after reviewing the bids submitted in response to the City's request to sell one (1) 1985 Pierce Midi Pumper Fire Truck, the Department recommends that the Board award the bid submitted by Cleveland Township Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., 51233 County Road 5 N, Elkhart, Indiana, in the amount of $58,000.00. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. APPROVE CHANGE ORDER - BLACKTHORN GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE EQUIPMENT In a Memorandum to the Board, Mr. James Riggs, Department of Community and Economic Development, requested that the Board approve a Change Order on a bid awarded to Wyatt Farm Center, P.O. Bo 59, Wyatt, Indiana, for turf maintenance equipment for the Blackthorn Golf Course. Mr. Riggs noted that on August 23, 1993, the Board opened bids for this equipment for the operation and establishment of the golf course. As lowest bidder, Wyatt Farm Center was awarded the bid for the following items: Item No. 1 Kubota L4350 4WD Tractor $22,271.05 Item No. 2 Kubota L2950 GST 4WD Tractor $12,865.05 TOTAL AWARD: $35,136.10 Mr. Riggs noted that Item No. 2, the Kubota L2950 is available with three (3) tire options. The bid specifications did not include any mention of the tire size. According to the Golf Course Superintendent, Mr. John Quickstead, the tire package included in the bid award to Wyatt Farm Center should not be used on a golf course. He has asked that the Board approve a Change Order that will change the tire package. Basically, the new tires are twice as wide as those in the original bid. This gives the tractor more traction while decreasing damage to the turf. According to Wyatt Farm Center, these are the most popular tires used by other golf courses. Wyatt Farm Center will supply these tires at their cost which is $600.00. Therefore, this Change Order increases the original contract for Item No. 2 from $12,865.05 to $13,464.05 for a total bid award of $35,736.10. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that this Change Order be approved. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried.
