<br />Mr. Littrell stated that

<br />at $22,271.05
<br />including one per cent
<br />(1%) discount and Item No.
<br />2, a Kubota
<br />L2950 GST 4WD tractor at
<br />$12,865.05 to Wyatt Farm
<br />Center, for a
<br />total amount of $35,136.10.
<br />In response to a question
<br />from the Board,
<br />Mr. Littrell noted that
<br />an automatic transmission
<br />was required
<br />for increased efficiency at
<br />the golf course.
<br />Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that this recommendation be
<br />accepted and the bid be awarded. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the
<br />motion which carried.
<br />OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY RIGHT TO LIFE, INC. TO CONDUCT "LIFE

<br />Ms. Virginia Black, Coordinator, St. Joseph County Right To Life,
<br />Inc., 320 North Lafayette Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, advised
<br />that again this year the St. Joseph County Right to Life is
<br />coordinating the City of South Bend's Life Chain for National Life
<br />Chain Sunday, October 3, 1993. Permission is requested to stand
<br />for one (1) hour, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., on Michigan Street
<br />(US 31) and Bartlett Street, forming the design of a cross. Mr.
<br />Leszczynski made a motion that this request be referred to the
<br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and
<br />recommendation. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried.

<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the above referred to requests, which
<br />were submitted to the Board on August 2, 1993, August 23, 1993 and
<br />August 30, 1993, have been reviewed by the appropriate City
<br />departments and bureaus and approval is recommended. Mr. Caldwell
<br />made a motion that the recommendations be accepted and the
<br />requests be approved. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which
<br />carried.
<br />REQUEST DENIED - TO REPLACE THE EXISTING VAPOR STREET LIGHT
<br />LOCATED AT 812 GOLDEN WITH ONE HOLLOWSPUN POST AND OCTAGONA:
<br />JUNIOR LUMINARY, LENS, REFRACTOR AND LAMP
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that on August 16, 1993, the Board
<br />received a request from Mr. J. Edward Talley, 1081 Riverside
<br />Drive, South Bend, Indiana and Mr. Glen Brammer, 812 Golden,
<br />Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, requesting permission to replace the
<br />existing mercury vapor street light located at 812 Golden Avenue
<br />with one (1) Hollowspun post and octagonal junior luminary, lens,
<br />refractor and lamp. Mr. Leszczynski noted that this request has
<br />been reviewed the various City departments and bureaus. It is the
<br />recommendation of the Division of Engineering that this request be
<br />denied.
<br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, informed
<br />the Board that an attempt has already been made to install this
<br />light pole and there are two (2) guy wires located next to the
