<br />Contract for the design and coordination of these repairs be
<br />approved. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried.
<br />In response to an inquiry from Mr. Caldwell, Mr. Dillon noted that
<br />this project would take approximately several weeks.
<br />APPROVE AGREEMENT - INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS - ALLIED
<br />SIGNAL
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of an
<br />Agreement between the City and AlliedSignal Braking Systems, 401
<br />North Bendix Drive, P.O. Box 4001, South Bend, Indiana. It was
<br />noted that AlliedSignal has requested that it be permitted to
<br />install traffic signals at the intersection of Bendix Drive and
<br />Kenwood Street in order to promote safety for pedestrians crossing
<br />at that intersection to the AlliedSignal facility. Mr.
<br />Leszczynski made a motion that this Agreement be approved and
<br />executed. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried.
<br />APPROVE AGREEMENT FOR USE OF PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY FOR FOOT RACES
<br />AND SIMILAR EVENTS - YWCA - RUN JANE RUN - SEPTEMBER 12 1993
<br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that pursuant to Resolution No. 9-1985,
<br />establishing policies and fees for foot races and similar events,
<br />adopted by the Board of Public Works on March 4, 1985, the Young
<br />Women's Christian Association of St. Joseph County, has fulfilled
<br />Resolution requirements to conduct the annual Run, Jane, Run,
<br />sports events on Sunday, September 12, 1993, and the appropriate
<br />Agreement is being presented to the Board at this time. It is
<br />noted that on June 14, 1993, the Board of Public Works approved
<br />the date for this event subject to the sponsor meeting all
<br />Resolution requirements.
<br />Upon a motion_ made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and
<br />carried, the Agreement was approved and executed.
<br />APPROVE CONSENT TO ANNEXATION AND WAIVER OF RIGHT TO REMONSTRATE
<br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Board is in receipt of a Consent
<br />to Annexation and Waiver of Right to Remonstrate as submitted by
<br />Mr. Robert W. Schroeder, President, Five-S-Corporation, d/b/a
<br />Bob's 19th Hole Tavern, 26582 U.S. 20 West, South Bend, Indiana.
<br />The Consent indicates that in consideration for permission to tap
<br />into the public sanitary sewer system of the City, to provide
<br />sanitary sewer service to the property at 26582 U.S. 20 West,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, (Key #21-1038-0627.14), the Five-S-
<br />Corporation waives and releases any and all right to remonstrate
<br />against or oppose any pending or future annexation of the property
<br />by the City of South Bend. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a
<br />motion that the Consent be approved. Mrs. Manier seconded the
<br />motion which carried.
<br />AWARD BID - MAINTENANCE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR THE OPERATION OF
<br />THE BLACKTHORN GOLF COURSE
<br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director,
<br />Division of Engineering, advised that on August 30, 1993, the
<br />Board considered recommendations for award of bids for equipment
<br />for the maintenance of the Blackthorn Golf Course. At that time,
<br />no recommendations were submitted for Item Nos. 1 and 2.
<br />Mr. Littrell noted that he recommends at this time that the Board
<br />award the bid for Item Nos. 1 and 2 to the third low bidder, Wyatt
<br />Farm Center, Inc., P.O. Box 59, Wyatt, Indiana. Their bid was for
<br />the specified Kubota tractors. Mr. Littrell noted that "or equal"
<br />bids were offered by J.W. Turf, Inc., for John Deere tractors and
<br />by Rader Equipment for Ford tractors. The descriptions offered
<br />for the alternates indicate that for the models listed the
