REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 7, 1993 <br />pole. It has been installed next to a rather large tree and is <br />not flush with the ground. Mr. Littrell noted that Mr. Talley <br />states that he proposes to install underground wiring for the <br />necessary electricity for this pole. Mr. Littrell indicated that <br />there could be excessive tree roots that must be dealt with in <br />this installation which may cause the tree to die. <br />Additionally, Mr. Littrell noted that trees at the location of the <br />light shadow the light making it ineffective. Further, Indiana <br />Michigan Power Company has advised that they will not accept the <br />proposed running of the power to the lamp. In closing, Mr. <br />Littrell informed the Board that the installation of this fixture <br />will change the pattern of the historical district from original <br />adoption and the light change will be from a 7500 mercury vapor <br />lamp to a 100 luminary lamp. <br />Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that this request be <br />denied. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />FILING OF TAXICAB RATES - UNIVERSITY CAB COMPANY <br />Mr. Chika C. Nwokah, President, University Cab Company, 517 East <br />Colfax, South Bend, Indiana, submitted to the Board for filing his <br />taxicab rates to be effective August 16, 1993: <br />Airport Rates: Flag drop $2.00 - Mile $1.00 <br />City Rates: Flag drop $1.50 - Mile $1.00 <br />Airport Rate: Waiting time $15.00 per hour <br />City Rate: Waiting time $12.00.per hour <br />Small packages delivery including grocery stores, laundromat, <br />to and from bars, $3.00 minimum <br />Special Rates: <br />Notre Dame/St. Mary's to/from A.P., South Shore or Amtrak, 1 <br />passenger meter rate, 2-9 passengers, $5.00 per head. <br />N.D. football Rate: to and from A.P./South Shore and Amtrak, <br />motels, hotels and inns - $5.00 per head, minimum $10.00. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the rates as submitted by Mr. <br />Nwokah be accepted for filing. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion <br />which carried. <br />APPROVE CONTRACTORS BONDS <br />Mr. Larry D. Spradlin and Mr. Dan Weisel, Division of Engineering, <br />recommended that the following Contractors Bonds be approved: <br />Indiana Earth, Inc. Eff. 9-1-93 <br />Connie L. Dudeck Eff. 9-7-93 <br />Esteban Uribe Eff. 9-7-93 <br />Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the recommendations <br />be accepted and the bonds be approved as noted. Mrs. Manier <br />seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Caldwell <br />and carried, the following four (4) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />1. NEW INSTALLATION: STOP SIGNS <br />LOCATION: Washington & Maple and <br />Washington & Elm <br />
