REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 14, 1993 <br />Bank Building, P.O. Box 4577, South Bend, Indiana, as Contact <br />Person, to vacate the following property: <br />The west 116 feet of the first east/west alley north <br />of LaSalle Street, running between Notre Dame Avenue <br />and Frances Street <br />It was noted that the Board is in receipt of favorable <br />recommendations concerning this Vacation Petition from the Area <br />Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Division of <br />Sanitation, Department of Economic Development and the Department <br />of Public Works. <br />Board Attorney and Member Mary H. Mueller informed members of the <br />Board that in connection with this vacation, a meeting was held at <br />which time St. Joseph Hospital agreed to give an Easement to <br />affected property owners and a License Agreement to the City for <br />use of the property for health and safety reasons, specifically <br />for use by the Division of Sanitation and for police and fire <br />protection. Mrs. Mueller noted that the vacated alley will be <br />used for parking and the Easement provides affected property <br />owners with ingress and egress to their property. <br />Therefore, Mrs. Mueller made a motion that the Board send a <br />favorable recommendation to the Common Council concerning this <br />Vacation Petition. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE LAWNDALE, FROM LINCOLNWAY WEST TO LA PORTE. FOR <br />NEIGHBORHOOD APPRECIATION - JULY 4, 1993 - REFERRED <br />Mr. Calvin Winston, 676 Lawndale, South Bend, Indiana, submitted <br />to the Board an Application For Use Of And Blocking Of Access To <br />Public Right -of -Way For A Party Or Similar Event, requesting that <br />Lawndale, from Lincolnway West to LaPorte, be closed from 10:00 <br />a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for a Neighborhood Appreciation. Mr. <br />Leszczynski made a motion that this request be referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. <br />REOUESTS APPROVED: <br />OF Y.W.C.A. TO CLOSE RIVERSIDE DRIVE, FROM BEALE TO BOLAND, <br />FOR 9TH ANNUAL "RUN, JANE RUN" EVENTS - SEPTEMBER 12, 1993 <br />TO CLOSE WILBER STREET, FROM MARQUETTE TO PORTAGE AVENUE, <br />FOR NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - JULY 4, 1993 <br />REQUEST OF VIETNAM VETERANS TO CONDUCT 5TH ANNUAL P.O.W./ <br />M.I.A. HOSTAGE FREEDOM MARCH - AUGUST 14, 1993 <br />OF OFFICE OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS TO CONDUCT ANNUAL ETHNIC <br />FESTIVAL, PARADE, ROAD RACE, STREET CLOSINGS AND "NO PARKING <br />BANS" - JUNE 28-JULY 4, 1993 AND CONCURRENCE FOR TEMPORARY <br />USE OF CITY OR COUNTY STREETS OR ROADS FOR THE DETOURING OF <br />TRAFFIC FROM A STATE HIGHWAY <br />TO CLOSE SUNNYMEDE AVENUE, FROM GREENLAWN TO TWYCKENHAM, FOR <br />NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - JULY 3, 1993 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the above referred to requests, which <br />were submitted to the Board on May 17, 1993, May 24, 1993 and June <br />1, 1993, have been reviewed by the appropriate City departments <br />and bureaus and approval is recommended. <br />It is noted that the Board has received for signature a form <br />entitled Concurrence for Temporary Use of City or County Streets <br />
