1 '1 j <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 26, 1993 <br />by Mrs. Mueller, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the <br />Contract was approved and the appropriate Certificate of <br />Insurance, Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond <br />as submitted were filed. <br />APPROVE CITY DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS <br />Mr. Dan Weisel, Engineering Aide, Division of'Engineering, <br />submitted to the Board the City Design and Construction Standards <br />for approval and execution of the cover sheet. Mr. Weisel noted <br />that these standards, followed by engineers, architects and <br />contractors who design or construct any public improvements have <br />been updated to meet the Bureau of Public Construction's current <br />requirements. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that these standards <br />be approved and the cover sheet be executed. Mrs. Mueller <br />seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUESTS APPROVED: <br />- OF CASTEEL CONSTRUCTION TO OCCUPY A PORTION OF RIGHT-OF-WAY <br />ON WASHINGTON STREET, BETWEEN MICHIGAN AND ST. JOSEPH STREET, <br />IN CONJUNCTION WITH PLAZA IMPROVEMENTS AT THE 1ST <br />SOURCE/MARRIOTT HOTEL <br />OF COALITION FOR RACIAL UNITY TO CONDUCT WALK - OCTOBER 17, <br />1993 <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that the above referred to requests, which <br />were submitted to the Board on April 5, 1993, have been reviewed <br />by the appropriate City departments and bureaus and approval is <br />recommended. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the <br />recommendations be accepted and the requests be approved. Mrs. <br />Mueller seconded the motion which carried. <br />FILING OF MONTHLY HUMANE SOCIETY REPORT - MARCH <br />The Humane Society of St. Joseph County, IN, Inc., submitted to <br />the Board the monthly report for the month of March indicating the <br />types and numbers of animals handled for the City of South Bend. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the report be accepted for <br />filing. Mrs. Mueller seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Mueller and <br />carried, the following two (2) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />1. NEW INSTALLATION: STOP SIGN <br />LOCATION: Union and Solomon <br />REMARKS: T-intersection <br />2. NEW INSTALLATION: SPEED LIMIT - 20 MPH <br />LOCATION: Portage, Navarre to Angela <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION_- VACATION OF 1ST E/W ALLEY S. OF <br />BARTLETT STREET AND 1ST N/S ALLEY E. OF LAFAYETTE BOULEVARD <br />Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the Common Council has submitted to <br />the Board a Vacation Petition as submitted by Mr. Philip A. <br />Newbold, President, Memorial Hospital of South Bend, Inc., 615 <br />North Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana, and indicating Mr. <br />Bruce R. Bancroft, Barnes & Thornburg, 600 1st Source Bank Center, <br />100 North Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana, as Contact Person, <br />to vacate the following alleys: <br />The 1st east/west alley south of Bartlett <br />Street running east from Lafayette Boulevard <br />to the west right-of-way line of the 1st <br />north/south alley east of Lafayette Boulevard <br />
