REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 26, 1993 <br />School, Center for Civil and Human Rights, Notre Dame, <br />Indiana, requested, on behalf of Journey of Hope, and its <br />main sponsor Murder Victims Families for Reconciliation, that <br />they be given permission to conduct a sidewalk March in <br />downtown South Bend. Mr. Meintjes noted that the March is <br />being planned for Tuesday, June 8, 1993 at 12:00 noon. The <br />route to be followed starts at 331 North Scott Street, <br />proceeds south to Western Avenue, turns east and proceeds <br />toward Main Street and finally turns north and proceeds <br />toward the County -City Building where it ends. Mr. Meintjes <br />further advised that they anticipate fifty (50) to one <br />hundred (100) individuals will participate in the March. <br />OF HOSPICE OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INC. TO CONDUCT ANNUAL WALK <br />FOR HOSPICE - OCTOBER 10, 1993 <br />Mr. Mark M. Murray, Associate Director, Hospice of St. Joseph <br />County, Inc., 108 North Main Street, Suites 111-113, South <br />Bend, Indiana, advised that Hospice of St. Joseph County, <br />Inc. would like to conduct its 8th Annual Walk for Hospice on <br />Sunday, October 10, 1993. The Walk is a 17K Walk which will <br />begin and end at Potawatomi Park. Registration for the Walk <br />will begin at 12:00 noon with the Walk beginning at 1:00 p.m. <br />and ending at approximately 5:00 p.m. Mr. Murray submitted a <br />proposed route with the request. <br />TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT THE S.W. CORNER OF PARCEL <br />NO. 3 IN THE INNER BELT INDUSTRIAL PARK <br />Mr. George E. Herendeen, Allen, Fedder, Herendeen & Kowals, <br />205 West Jefferson Boulevard, Suite 300, South Bend, Indiana, <br />on behalf of Matthew R. Dee, requested permission to purchase <br />real estate from the City. The property in question is <br />located on the east side of the land on which the United <br />Beverage Company does business at the corner of Prairie <br />Avenue and Sample Streets in South Bend, Indiana. It is also <br />property which lies west of the South Bend fire station. <br />Mr. Herendeen noted that in September of 1992 they began a <br />process whereby Mr. Dee was going to purchase this land. <br />However, when they investigated the legal description, the <br />survey and other matters dealing with the land, they found <br />that it was mis-described. At the present time, with the <br />assistance of the City Engineer's office, they have been able <br />to correct the mis-description and are now in a position to <br />purchase the property. Mr. Herendeen noted that the property <br />will need to be resurveyed. <br />OF SOUTH BEND TRIBUNE, MEMORIAL HOSPITAL OF SOUTH BEND AND <br />WSBT STATIONS, TO CONDUCT MUSIC FESTIVAL ON THE MICHIGAN <br />STREET MALL - JUNE 5, 1993 <br />Mr. Joyce Fox, Events Coordinator, Sunburst 1993, South Bend <br />Tribune, 225 West Colfax Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, advised <br />that when the Sunburst Marathon and related events were begun <br />in 1984, it was the goal of the South Bend Tribune to create <br />an activity for area residents, to attract tourists to the <br />community, to promote the downtown and generally "fill up" a <br />weekend in South Bend. In keeping with this goal, the <br />Sunburst Committee requests permission to extend the Sunburst <br />activities to include an outdoor music festival downtown on <br />the Michigan Avenue mall. <br />Ms. Fox stated that the music festival would be held between <br />5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 1993. Plans <br />include having three (3) bands, a Country Western group <br />located just outside Heartland, a jazz combo in the Society <br />Bank front park area and a rock and roll group possibly <br />
