163r REGULAR MEETING APRIL 19, 1993 Control, Information and Communication System Project. This Project consists of the furnishing of all materials, equipment and labor for Phase I of the Control, Information and Communication System, including but not limited to furnishing all materials and labor, including radios, computers, towers, furniture, electrical devices, mechanical devices, meters and all other work pursuant to the plans and specifications for this project. Mrs. Mueller made a motion that this request be approved. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - THIRTY-FIVE (35), MORE OR LESS, PORTABLE TRANSCEIVER RADIOS AND ACCESSORIES - SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT Police Chief Ronald G. Marciniak informed the Board that the Department is in need of at least thirty-five (35) portable transceiver radios and accessories for use by police officers. As compatibility between obtainable portable radios and the present car mounted charging units is no longer available, the purchase of these radios will allow officers assigned to patrol duty the ability to maintain a portable radio on their duty belt while on patrol as well as utilize an installed dash mounted separate radio and have reliable communication at all times. Therefore, Chief Marciniak requested that the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for the purchase of these radios. Mrs. Mueller made a motion that this request be approved. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. REQUESTS REFERRED: Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Mueller and carried, the following requests were referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation: OF MAURICE MATTHYS LITTLE LEAGUE, INC. TO CONDUCT PARADE - MAY 15, 1993 Mr. Rick L. Kring, Opening Day Chairman, Maurice Matthys Little League, Inc., Box 3074, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to conduct a parade on Saturday, May 15, 1993, beginning at 9:00 a.m., utilizing the route submitted with the request. Mr. Kring noted that sixty (60) vehicles will participate in this parade. OF HOOSIER HOOPS TO CLOSE THE 100 BLOCK OF WEST WESTERN AVENUE - JULY 2-3, 1993 Mr. Jon R. Hickey, Member of the Committee, Hoosier Hoops, P.O. Box 988, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the Committee for Hoosier Hoops would like permission to close the 100 block of West Western Avenue on July 2-3, 1993. Mr. Hickey noted that they are requesting the closing of the street after 1:00 p.m. on July 2, 1993 to set-up for the 3 on 3 Classic. They will finish all play on Saturday, July 3 and will remove all backboards by Saturday night. Mr. Hickey noted that this is the same time as the Ethnic Festival. Mr. Hickey further informed the Board that they have received permission from The Holladay Corporation for use of the south parking lot off of Western Avenue and the Baer's parking lot from the Ethnic Festival Committee. They feel that by using Western Avenue, the players will be safer and they will not have to use the Baer's lot. FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE AT THE CORNER OF HAMILTON AND JOHNSON STREETS
