He stated that he is thirty-one (31) <br />years of age and will go to jail if his bills and child support <br />are not paid. <br />Mrs. Mueller informed Mr. Davis that the City must look out for <br />the welfare of its citizens and therefore, Mr. Davis cannot drive <br />a taxicab in the City of South Bend any more. <br />APPROVE AGREEMENT - SAINT JOSEPH'S MEDICAL CENTER/PREMIER MEDICAL <br />GROUP <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of an <br />Agreement between the City, Saint Joseph's Medical Center and the <br />Premier Medical Group. <br />City Controller Kevin Horton was present and advised the Board <br />that the document they have before them for approval and execution <br />is the result of a bid process that occurred last year and <br />extensive negotiations that have taken place. The result of that <br />is that the Board is being asked to enter into an Agreement with <br />St. Joseph Medical Center and Premier Medical Group as the City's <br />preferred provider organization. <br />Mr. Horton noted that the PPO is an enhancement to the existing <br />plan. The City receives a discount and is able to offer employees <br />a lower co -pay and deductible. Mr. Horton noted that the City <br />will receive a discount of twenty-one per cent (21%) in the first <br />year of three (3) years with the lowest discount in year three <br />being sixteen per cent (16%). Mr. Horton stated that the City <br />will audit the program at the end of the first year to determine <br />if the City is saving money and whether or not to extend the <br />Agreement or to re -bid the hospital component of the program next <br />year. He noted that there is a sixty (60) day cancellation clause <br />in the Agreement. <br />Mrs. Mueller made a motion that the Agreement be approved and <br />executed. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BID - UNIFORMS FOR VARIOUS CITY DEPARTMENTS AND BUREAUS <br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Ms. Catherine A. Hubbard, Human <br />Resources Director, advised that she has reviewed the bids <br />received by the Board on March 15, 1993, for the rental of <br />uniforms for various City departments and bureaus. <br />Ms. Hubbard stated that Mechanics Laundry & Supply, Inc., was the <br />lowest bidder. However, they have been rejected as their prices <br />were based on a five (5) year contract. <br />The next three (3) lowest bidders, Aratex, Ace -Tex and Monarch, <br />were invited by the Labor Management Committee to submit samples <br />of their uniforms and conduct a brief presentation of their <br />
