Me=
REGULAR MEETING
JANUARY 11, 1993
UOTATION - REMOVAL OF UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANKS
FROM 1130 SOUTH MAIN AND 225 WEST GARST
In a Memorandum to the Board, Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director,
Division of Engineering, advised that on December 21, 1992 the
Board opened two (2) Quotations for the removal of underground
storage tanks at 1130 South Main Street and 225 West Garst
Street. Mr. Littrell indicated that he has reviewed the
Quotations and found that their amounts. agree with the amounts
read at that meeting. Therefore, Mr. Littrell recommended that
the Board award the low bid of Petroleum Equipment, Inc., 12875
McKinley Highway, Mishawaka, Indiana, in the amount of
$24,900.00.
Mr. Littrell noted that several of the items in the Quotation
refer to remediation of potentially contaminated ground due to
the underground tanks that are to be removed. It is possible and
in fact likely, that there is no contamination so that the
project will be completed for a lesser amount. In response to an
inquiry from Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Littrell stated that originally
the City knew about the presence of one (1) of the tanks but did
not know about the other. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the
recommendation be accepted and the Quotation be awarded. Mr.
Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried.
APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - ONE (1)
EIGHTEEN FOOT (18') COMPOST TURNER WITH AN ALTERNATE FOR ONE (1)
FOURTEEN FOOT (14') COMPOST TURNER - ORGANIC RESOURCES/DEPARTMENT
OF SANITATION
In a letter to the Board, Mr. John J. Dillon, Director, Division
of Environmental Services, requested that the Board advertise for
the receipt of bids for an eighteen foot (181) compost turner
with an alternate for a fourteen foot (14') compost turner for
use at the Organic Resources section of the Department of
Sanitation. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be
approved. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried.
APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - REPAIR OF
PUMP NO. 3 AND RIGHT ANGLE DRIVE
In a Memorandum to the Board, Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director,
Division of Engineering, on behalf of the Division of
Environmental Services, requested that the Board advertise for
the receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Mr.
Littrell noted that this project will provide for the inspection
and cleaning of the Main Raw Sewage Pump No. 3 at the Wastewater
Treatment Plant. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that
the request be approved. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which
carried.
APPROVE REQUEST OF KNIGHTS O'j
- JANUARY 17. 1
LUMBUS TO CONDUCT "MARCH
Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and
bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request, which was
submitted to the Board on December 21, 1992, and approval is
recommended. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which
carried.
APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE
Mr. Leszczynski advised that the traffic control device submitted
at this time has to do with some changes being made by the State
Highway at this particular intersection.
