1,5 4 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 22, 1994 <br />DC Byers Company $122,000.00 <br />Consolidated Concrete $127,100.00 <br />Bids were opened at the Lawson -Fisher office on September 14, 1993 <br />and the low bidder was Pressure Concrete. The job was awarded to <br />Pressure Concrete on October 14, 1993. Pressure Concrete proposed <br />an alternate method for repairing the brick sewer on October 15, <br />1993. The alternate was reviewed and approved by the engineer and <br />City personal at a cost of $102,935.00 plus materials for the work <br />inside the sewer. The work for the repairs on the concrete invert <br />of the creek was quoted and accepted at $53,590.00. With the <br />Change Order, the total cost for the project was $174,062.36 and <br />was completed to the satisfaction of the Division of Environmental <br />Services. <br />Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the Project <br />Completion Affidavit, as submitted, be approved and executed. <br />Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />PETITION FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF RESTRICTED RESIDENTIAL PARKING <br />ZONES - 909 TO 1110 BELLEVUE AVENUE, 1505 TO 1622 HILDRETH STREET <br />AND 1506 TO 1520 RUSKIN STREET - REFERRED <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Keith D. Dennis, Vice Chancellor <br />for Business Affairs, Indiana University South Bend, <br />Administration Building 246, 1700 Mishawaka Avenue, P.O. Box 7111, <br />South Bend, Indiana, submitted to the Board a Petition for the <br />Establishment of Restricted Residential Parking Zones for 909 to <br />1110 Bellevue Avenue, 1505 to 1622 Hildreth and 1506 to 1520 <br />Ruskin Street, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through <br />Thursday. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that this Petition be <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting in order that the <br />appropriate traffic study can be conducted. Mrs. Manier seconded <br />the motion which carried. <br />ACCEPTANCE OF SIG SAUER P-229 HANDGUNS FOR THE SOUTH BEND POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT <br />Police Chief Ronald G. Marciniak reminded members of the Board <br />that on June 3, 1993, he advised that Kiesler Police Supply, Inc., <br />of Jeffersonville, Indiana, provided two hundred forty two (242) <br />semi automatic handguns to the Police Department for testing as a <br />substitute for the Glock M-21 weapons which were originally <br />provided. During the period July 11, 1994 through August 9, 1994, <br />the South Bend Police Department conducted testing and evaluation <br />of the weapons, officer training and officer certification in the <br />use of the Sig Sauer P-229 .40 caliber semi -automatic handgun. <br />The weapon performed in an acceptable manner during the evaluation <br />testing and training period. Officers are currently carrying the <br />Sig Sauer P-229 as the duty issued weapon. <br />Therefore, Chief Marciniak stated that it is the recommendation of <br />the Police Department that the weapons submitted by Kiesler Police <br />Supply, Inc., be accepted. Chief Marciniak noted that the Board <br />previously gave him permission to enter into an Agreement with <br />Kiesler Police Supply, which he did on May 18, 1994, to provide <br />the Sig Sauer P-229 handguns as a substitute for the Glock M-21 <br />weapons. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the Chief's recommendation be <br />accepted and the substitute be approved.
