REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 31, 1994 <br />Increase: $3,395.42 <br />Description: Pipe, R.C. III, 36 inch <br />Increase: $4,238.13 <br />Description: Single Mailbox assembly <br />Increase: $1,554.81 <br />Description: Sign post and signs <br />Mr,. Caldwell made a motion that these Change Orders be approved. <br />Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />REJECT BIDS AND APPROVE REQUEST TO READVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF <br />BIDS - PUBLIC WORKS PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM - SIDEWALK CURB <br />APPROACH, RAMP AND TREELAWN IMPROVEMENTS <br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, advised <br />that on May 23, 1994, the Board opened one (1) bid for the above <br />referred to project from Walsh and Kelly, Inc. Mr. Littrell noted <br />that he has reviewed the bid and found the amounts correct as read <br />atl,the Board meeting. At this time Mr. Littrell recommended that <br />the Board reject this bid. The unit prices offered are 9.4% less <br />than the same company offered on the original bid but still much <br />higher than approved by the Board historically and much higher <br />than other contractors have offered in other zones of this <br />project. <br />Mr Littrell also asked that the Board readvertise for the receipt <br />of bids for this project. He noted that specifications will be <br />rewritten and that Zone 11 will be broken out into four (4) or <br />more zones. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the recommendation to <br />mect the bids and the request to readvertise for the receipt of <br />s be approved. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BIDS - STREET SWEEPERS <br />Mr. Matthew Chlebowski, Director, Division of Equipment Services, <br />ad ised that he has reviewed the bids received on May 2, 1994 for <br />th above referred to equipment. At this time, Mr. Chlebowski <br />recommends that the Board award the low bid of Brown Equipment <br />Co pany, Inc., P.O. Box 9799, Fort Wayne, Indiana, in the amount <br />of $130,070.00 for two (2) three wheel street sweepers, with front <br />ti es foam filled, one rear spare tire and wheel per unit, and <br />dull gutter broom assembly. Mrs. Manier made a motion that the <br />recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded. Mr. Caldwell <br />seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUESTS REFERRED: <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and <br />carried, the following requests were referred to the appropriate <br />City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation: <br />- OF STUDEBAKER NATIONAL MUSEUM TO CLOSE PORTIONS OF SOUTH <br />STREET AND LAFAYETTE BOULEVARD IN CONJUNCTION WITH SOUTH <br />BEND CLASSIC CAR SHOW AND SWAP MEET - AUGUST 28 1994 <br />Mr. Ron Radecki, Director, Studebaker National Museum, 525 <br />South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission <br />to close the portions of South Street and Lafayette Boulevard <br />that border the Studebaker National Museum on Sunday, August <br />28, 1994, from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in conjunction with the <br />South Bend Classic Car Show and Swap Meet that will be taking <br />place at the Museum. <br />OF STUDEBAKER NATIONAL MUSEUM TO CLOSE PORTIONS OF SOUTH <br />STREET AND LAFAYETTE BOULEVARD IN CONJUNCTION WITH GREAT <br />AMERICAN RACE - JUNE 29, 1994. <br />
