J r -155 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 28, 1994 <br />Engineering, requested that the Board advertise for the receipt of <br />bids for Street Department materials for 1994 and for bids for <br />curb and sidewalk improvements, tree trimming and tree removal and <br />replacement, for the public works portion of the 1994 Neighborhood <br />Partnership Program. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the requests to advertise, as <br />outlined above, be approved. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion <br />which carried. <br />REQUESTS REFERRED: <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and <br />carried, the following requests were referred to the appropriate <br />City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation: <br />OF CHET WAGGONER LITTLE LEAGUE TO CONDUCT ANNUAL PARADE - <br />APRIL 30, 1994 <br />Ms. Georgia Campbell, President, Chet Waggoner Little <br />League, P.O. Box 3744, South Bend, Indiana, advising that <br />their annual Opening Day Parade is scheduled for Saturday, <br />April 30, 1994, at 8:OO a.m. The route to be utilized is <br />the same as used in the past. The parade will begin at the <br />Coveleski Stadium Parking lot and will finish at the Chet <br />Waggoner Park entrance which is located at the rear of the <br />St. Joseph County Highway Garage at 3301 Riverside Drive. <br />FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE AT 731 DIAMOND <br />AVENUE <br />Mr. Giuseppe Lacopo, 731 Diamond Avenue, South Bend, <br />Indiana, advised the Board that he is handicapped and would <br />like the parking space in front of his residence designated <br />as a handicapped parking space. Mr. Lacopo noted that he <br />has a handicap plate on his vehicle. <br />OF DISMAS OF MICHIANA TO CLOSE STREET IN CONJUNCTION WITH <br />FUNDRAISER - MAY 12, 1994 <br />Mr. Jay Spriggs, Dismas of Michiana, P.O. Box 1571, South <br />Bend, Indiana, advised that Dismas of Michiana is a non -for - <br />profit organization located in South Bend. They are <br />planning an outside rally and fundraiser on May 12, 1994. <br />Mr. Spriggs noted that the event will involve the neighbors <br />in the 500 block of St. Joseph Street and would be open to <br />the public. They are planning to have canopy tents set up <br />in the street with tables and chairs. Also, Nelson's Port- <br />O-Pit will be serving chicken and raising money for this <br />organization and they would have other food to accompany the <br />chicken. There will also be a student band and other <br />activities like volleyball, a dunk tank and other games. <br />Mr. Spriggs requested that St. Joseph Street, from Monroe to <br />South Street be closed for this event. He noted that there <br />is adequate parking on the corner of Monroe and St. Joseph. <br />- OF LA CASA DE AMISTAD TO CLOSE MICHIGAN STREET IN FRONT OF <br />THE MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM IN CONJUNCTION WITH FESTIVAL - <br />AUGUST 20, 1994 <br />Mr. Benito Salazar, South Bend Fiesta Coordinator, LaCasa De <br />Amistad, 746 South Meade Street, South Bend, Indiana, <br />requested that the Board close Michigan Street in front of <br />the Morris Civic Auditorium on Saturday, August 20, 1994. <br />Mr. Salazar stated that the reason for this request is <br />because La Casa de Amistad Community Center is planning a <br />fundraiser, to be held on the grass in front of the Morris <br />Civic Auditorium, which will feature food, arts, crafts, <br />
