J r -155 REGULAR MEETING MARCH 28, 1994 Engineering, requested that the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for Street Department materials for 1994 and for bids for curb and sidewalk improvements, tree trimming and tree removal and replacement, for the public works portion of the 1994 Neighborhood Partnership Program. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the requests to advertise, as outlined above, be approved. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. REQUESTS REFERRED: Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the following requests were referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation: OF CHET WAGGONER LITTLE LEAGUE TO CONDUCT ANNUAL PARADE - APRIL 30, 1994 Ms. Georgia Campbell, President, Chet Waggoner Little League, P.O. Box 3744, South Bend, Indiana, advising that their annual Opening Day Parade is scheduled for Saturday, April 30, 1994, at 8:OO a.m. The route to be utilized is the same as used in the past. The parade will begin at the Coveleski Stadium Parking lot and will finish at the Chet Waggoner Park entrance which is located at the rear of the St. Joseph County Highway Garage at 3301 Riverside Drive. FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE AT 731 DIAMOND AVENUE Mr. Giuseppe Lacopo, 731 Diamond Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, advised the Board that he is handicapped and would like the parking space in front of his residence designated as a handicapped parking space. Mr. Lacopo noted that he has a handicap plate on his vehicle. OF DISMAS OF MICHIANA TO CLOSE STREET IN CONJUNCTION WITH FUNDRAISER - MAY 12, 1994 Mr. Jay Spriggs, Dismas of Michiana, P.O. Box 1571, South Bend, Indiana, advised that Dismas of Michiana is a non -for - profit organization located in South Bend. They are planning an outside rally and fundraiser on May 12, 1994. Mr. Spriggs noted that the event will involve the neighbors in the 500 block of St. Joseph Street and would be open to the public. They are planning to have canopy tents set up in the street with tables and chairs. Also, Nelson's Port- O-Pit will be serving chicken and raising money for this organization and they would have other food to accompany the chicken. There will also be a student band and other activities like volleyball, a dunk tank and other games. Mr. Spriggs requested that St. Joseph Street, from Monroe to South Street be closed for this event. He noted that there is adequate parking on the corner of Monroe and St. Joseph. - OF LA CASA DE AMISTAD TO CLOSE MICHIGAN STREET IN FRONT OF THE MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM IN CONJUNCTION WITH FESTIVAL - AUGUST 20, 1994 Mr. Benito Salazar, South Bend Fiesta Coordinator, LaCasa De Amistad, 746 South Meade Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested that the Board close Michigan Street in front of the Morris Civic Auditorium on Saturday, August 20, 1994. Mr. Salazar stated that the reason for this request is because La Casa de Amistad Community Center is planning a fundraiser, to be held on the grass in front of the Morris Civic Auditorium, which will feature food, arts, crafts,
