4.�--140 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 21, 1994 <br />Mrs. Kolata advised that this vacation petition is in connection <br />with the expansion of Shafer Gear Works, Inc., 814-820 South Main <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana. Shafer Gear Works owns property on <br />the north side of Tutt street and would like to have this vacation <br />to include the street and alley into their site plan and to <br />connect the entire site for their business expansion. In response <br />to an inquiry from Mr. Caldwell about the effect of this vacation <br />on the Shelter for the Homeless, Mrs. Kolata stated that the alley <br />behind the Shelter would remain open and they would not be <br />affected by this proposed vacation. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable <br />recommendations concerning this Vacation Petition from the Fire <br />Department, Police Department, Division of Sanitation, Department <br />of Community and Economic Development, Division of Engineering and <br />the Area Plan Commission. Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion <br />that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common <br />Council concerning this Vacation Petition. Mrs. Manier seconded <br />the motion which carried. <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - VACATION OF SERVICE COURT NO. 5 FROM <br />WASHINGTON STREET SOUTH FOR A DISTANCE OF APPROXIMATELY 212 FEET <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Common Council has submitted to <br />the Board a Vacation Petition as completed by Ms. Ann E. Kolata, <br />Redevelopment Director, City of South Bend Department of Community <br />and Economic Development, to vacate the following property: <br />Service Court No. 5 from Washington Street south for a <br />distance of approximately 212 feet <br />Mrs. Ann Kolata, Redevelopment Director, Department of Community <br />and Economic Development, addressed the Board and stated that this <br />vacation is in connection with the College Football Hall of Fame <br />Project. It was noted that in the future there would be a <br />rededication of an alley to the east of this proposed vacation. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable <br />recommendations concerning this Vacation Petition from the Area <br />Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Division of <br />Sanitation, Department of Economic Development and the Department <br />of Public Works. <br />Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the Board send a <br />favorable recommendation to the Common Council concerning this <br />Vacation Petition. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - VACATION OF 1 <br />AS GOETZ COURT <br />ALSO KNOWN <br />S. OF W. WESTERN AVENUE <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Common Council has submitted to <br />the Board a Vacation Petition as completed by Mr. Michael Morris <br />or Ms. Sharon Shenenberger, Enzyme Research Laboratories, 412 <br />South Lafayette Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, and Mr. Milton <br />Ries, Ries Furniture Company, Inc., 432 South Lafayette Boulevard, <br />South Bend, Indiana, to vacate the following property: <br />The alley to be vacated is described as the first <br />east/west alley (also known as Goetz Court), south of W. <br />Western Avenue from the east right-of-way line of S. <br />Lafayette Boulevard to the west right-of-way line of the <br />first north/south alley east of S. Lafayette Boulevard <br />for a distance of approximately 165 feet and a width of <br />approximately 14 feet. Alley is located in Martin's <br />Addition to the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable <br />recommendations concerning this Vacation Petition from the Fire <br />1 <br />J <br />
