35 <br />REGULAR MEETING JUNE 26. 1995 <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - SIDEWALK PERMIT APPLICATION <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Code Enforcement, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to <br />a request as submitted by Mr. David Hab, Dainty Maid Bake Shop, 231 South Michigan Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana, to conduct the above referred to sale of baked goods and cookies, on June 30, <br />1995, Saturday, July 1, 1995, and Sunday, July 2, 1995, in front of 231 S. Michigan, in conjunction <br />with the Ethnic Festival. Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and <br />carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - RECONSIDERATION OF PETITION TO VACATE AN <br />ALLEY <br />Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board a Vacation Petition <br />as completed by Ms. Jeanie Schwartz, Nickle & Piasecki, 205 West Jefferson, South Bend, Indiana <br />to vacate the following alley: <br />The first north -south alley west of S. Franklin Street, from the north right-of-way line of W. <br />Indiana Avenue, north for a distance of approximately 121.64 feet and a width of <br />approximately 14 feet, thence northwesterly and parallel to the Penn Central Rail Road right- <br />of-way for a distance of approximately 63 feet and a width of approximately 14 feet. Part <br />situated in Stull's Fourth Addition to the City of South Bend. <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that this request was denied on the June 12, 1995, meeting. Further, the <br />Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this Vacation Petition from the Area <br />Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, Department of Economic <br />Development and the Department of Public Works. Therefore, Mrs. Manier made a motion that the <br />Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council concerning this Vacation Petition. <br />Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUESTS REFERRED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the following <br />requests were referred to the appropriate Bureaus and Departments for recommendation: <br />- TO CONDUCT A.B.A.T.E. MOTORCYCLE PROCESSION <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Harold Grebe, A.B.A.T.E. of Indiana, 1925 Faith Indiana, Bremen, <br />Indiana, submitted a request to conduct a benefit motorcycle ride for Muscular Dystrophy, on <br />Sunday, September 3, 1995, beginning at 12:00 noon, on the designated route as submitted. <br />- TO CONDUCT RUN, JANE RUN - Y W C A <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Kit Banta, Y.W.C.A., 802 N. Lafayette, South Bend, Indiana, submitted <br />a request to conduct the 1 lth Annual run, jane, run, on Saturday, August 19, 1995, from 7:45 a.m. <br />until 10:45 a.m., on the designated route as submitted. <br />- TO CONDUCT DUATHLON - MEMORIAL HOSPITAL/HEALTH SYSTEM <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Philip Newbold, Memorial Hospital of South Bend, 615 North Michigan <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, submitted a request to conduct a duathlon on Sunday, September 10, <br />1995, beginning at 8:00 a.m., on the designated route as submitted. <br />TO CONDUCT A NEIGHBORHOOD WALK AND PICNIC - NEAR WESTSIDE <br />NEIGHBORHOOD PARTNERSHIP CENTER <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Carla Spradlin, Planner II, requested permission on behalf of the Near <br />Westside Neighborhood Partnership Center, 504 N. Johnson, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct a <br />Neighborhood Walk and Picnic on Saturday, July 8, 1995, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., in the <br />500 block of North Johnson. <br />- TO CONDUCT THE RIVER PARK DAY FESTIVAL PARADE <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. K.R. Palmer, River Park Business Association, 2528 Mishawaka <br />Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to conduct the above referred to parade on <br />Saturday, August 12, 1995, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., on the designated route as submitted. <br />
