Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by
Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the above license applications were approved and referred to the
Deputy Controller's Office for issuance of a license.
RECOMMENDATION TO INSTALL NEW SIGN
Mr. Leszczynski stated that the request to install a sign at 2914 West Western, South Bend, Indiana,
as submitted by Mr. Richard Gonzalez, 2714 Bonds Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, does not encroach
onto the public right-of-way, and therefore no action is required from the Board of Public Works.
REQUEST DENIED - PURCHASE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY - 1039 LASALLE COURT
Mr. Leszczynski stated that an unfavorable recommendation has been received by the Department
of Community and Economic Development, in reference to the request to purchase a City -owned
lot at 1039 LaSalle Court, as submitted by Ms. Cheryl Moore, 305 LaPorte Avenue, South Bend,
Indiana. Mr. Larry Magliozzi stated that the Division of Planning and Neighborhood Development
has reviewed the request and does not recommend the sale of this lot at this time. Further, the lot
immediately adjacent to the subject lot is also owned by the City, purchased at a tax sale in 1992,
to take advantage of an opportunity to combine and be able to market two lots as one building site.
The sale of one of the lots would compromise that effort, and they should remain under City
ownership until all efforts have been exhausted to market these properties for construction of a
single-family unit. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier
and carried, the request to purchase the City -owned lot at 1039 LaSalle Court was denied.
APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY - 1500-1700
SUNNYMEDE
Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as
submitted by Mr. Tom Wisniewski, 1620 Sunnymede Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct the
above referred to block party, on Saturday, July 8, 1995, from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., in the
1500-1700 blocks of Sunnymede Avenue.
