<br />addition, this option was bid at the same time and, if included, will remain the low bid. The cost of
<br />this Fines Stacker is $8,000.00. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski and carried, the request to purchase the above referred to equipment was approved.
<br />AWARD OF BID - 1995 STREET MATERIALS
<br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, stated that on April 10, 1995, the Board of
<br />Public Works opened and read ten bids for supplying street repair materials during the current year,
<br />and on June 5, 1995, the Board of Public Works awarded bids for items one (1) through eleven (11)
<br />and eighteen (18) through thirty-three (33). No bids were received for Items twelve (12) through
<br />seventeen (17). Mr. Littrell recommended that the Division of Engineering and the Street
<br />Department negotiate with contractors in relation to last years prices for those items at local prices.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, Items twelve (12)
<br />through seventeen (17) will be negotiated upon with contractors based on last year's prices.
<br />REQUESTS
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the following
<br />requests were forwarded to the appropriate Bureaus and Departments for recommendation:
<br />- TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY- CRIME PREVENTION
<br />Ms. Lillian Bogart, 924 North Allen, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to conduct a Crime
<br />Prevention Block Party on Saturday, June 24, 1995, from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the 900 block
<br />of North Allen.
<br />- TO CLOSE AN ALLEY - 400 BLOCK SOUTH CARLISLE
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Sue Konya -Bolin, 400 South Carlisle, South Bend, Indiana, requested
<br />permission to close the alley in the 400 block of South Carlisle on Saturday, June 24, 1995, from
<br />6:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., to conduct an auction for the Valentine Frankiewicz Estate, of 422 South
<br />Carlisle Street.
<br />- TO ACQUIRE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Robert A. Schlifke, Attorney at Law, 914 East Jefferson, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, requested permission to acquire a City -owned lot for the sum of One Dollar ($1.00), at Lot
<br />#80, Haney's Addition, Key Number 18-7025-003.
<br />- TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY - DALE STREET FROM ECKMAN TO IRVINGTON
<br />Mr. Richard Chapman, 1020 East Irvington, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to conduct
<br />a block party on Saturday, July 1, 1995, from 1:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., on Dale Street, from
<br />Eckman to Irvington.
<br />- INSTALLATION OF FOUR-WAY STOP SIGN AT LEER AND DUBAIL STREETS
<br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Ronald G. Marciniak requested permission to install a four-way
<br />stop sign at Leer and Dubail Streets. Chief Marciniak stated that at a recent meeting, the members
<br />of the Unified Neighbors Investing Time and Energy Neighborhood Association expressed their
<br />concerns and desire to have a four-way stop sign installed at this location. Further, their concerns
<br />centered around cars speeding through the area, the number of accidents on Leer street and the fact
<br />that a day care center and a church are located in the area.
<br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO.36-1995 - TRANSFER OF REAL PROPERTY TO THE BOARD OF
<br />SCHOOL TRUSTEES OF THE SOUTH BEND COMMUNITY SCHOOL CORPORATION
<br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the following
