1a- <br />REGULAR MEETING APRIL 24. 1995 <br />AWARD BID - CENTURY CENTER SOUND SYSTEM - PROJECT NO. 94-92 <br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, advised the Board that on April 17, 1995, bids <br />were received and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Littrell <br />recommends that the Board award the contract to Communication Company of South Bend, Inc., <br />60200 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $39,975.00. Therefore, Mr. <br />Caldwell made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined <br />above. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BID - SAMPLE/EWING REDEVELOPMENT AREA - SITE CLEARANCE PHASE I - <br />ASBESTOS ABATEMENT FOR STRUCTURE REMOVAL PACKAGE 2 - PROJECT NO.95-25 <br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, advised the Board that on April 17, 1995, bids <br />were opened for the above referred to project. Mr. Litttrell recommends that the Board award the <br />contract to Advanced Environmental Systems, 15214 Tonkel Road, Leo, Indiana, in the amount of <br />$34,889.00. Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the <br />bid be awarded as outlined above. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BID - 1995 GOOD NEIGHBORS/GOOD NEIGHBORHOODS PUBLIC WORKS <br />PROGRAM - ZONES I IA AND I ID - PROJECT NO 95-20 <br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, advised the Board that on March 27, 1995, <br />bids were received and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr. <br />Littrell recommends that the Board award the bid for Zones 1 I and I ID to L.L. Geans, 1923 Home <br />Street, Mishawaka, Indiana, in the amount of $94,185.00 per Zone. Therefore, Mrs. Caldwell made <br />a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mrs. <br />Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the following <br />requests to advertise for the receipt of bids were approved: <br />- RADIO SYSTEM UPGRADE - FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />In a letter to the Board, Fire Chief Luther Taylor requested permission to advertise for the receipt <br />of bids for the Fire Department Radio System Upgrade. Chief Taylor noted that the method of <br />funding will be the Emergency Medical Services Capital Improvement Fund. <br />- RADIO SYSTEM UPGRADE - DEPARTMENT OF SANITATION <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Jack Dillon, Director, Environmental Services, requested permission <br />to advertise for the receipt of bids for radios and related equipment required by the Department of <br />Environmental Services. Mr. Dillon noted that this equipment will be used to upgrade existing -- <br />vehicles within the Division. <br />- TO SOLICIT PROPOSALS FOR DEBT COLLECTION SERVICES - FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />In a letter to the Board, Chief Luther Taylor, Fire Department, requested permission to solicit <br />proposals for debt collection services for past due ambulance accounts for the year 1995. <br />REQUESTS REFERRED: <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the following <br />requests were referred to the appropriate Bureaus and Departments for review and recommendation: <br />- TO CONDUCT A BLOCK PARTY <br />Ms. Donna Burton,1627 Franklin, South Bend, Indiana, submitted a request to conduct a block party <br />for a graduation party on June 11, 1995. <br />- TO CONDUCT A WALK FOR HEALTHY YOUTH <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Donna Germain, Mental Health Association of St Joseph County, Inc., <br />211 W. Madison Street, South Bend, requested permission to conduct a Walk for Healthy Youth, <br />on Saturday, May 13,1995, at 5:00 p.m. <br />
