EMI <br />REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 3, 1995 <br />- LICENSE RENEWAL - SECONDHAND STORE <br />Mr. Fidencio Bueno, 210 E. Haney, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to renew his license <br />application for a Secondhand Store, Mason Heating & Appliances, 118 E. Sample Street, South <br />Bend, Indiana, to conduct the sale of appliances. <br />ADOPTION OF RESOLUTIONS NO. 47-1994 AND 49-1994 - HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Fire Department and the Police Department have submitted <br />respectively Resolution No. 47-1994 (Fire Department) and Resolution No. 49-1994 (Police <br />Department) setting Holiday Schedules as follows: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 47-1994 <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is empowered <br />by law to establish rules and regulations for the South Bend Fire Department; and <br />WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the City of South Bend that the Fire Department holidays <br />be set with certainty. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Public Safety of the City of <br />South Bend: <br />SECTION I. That the following days be holidays in 1995 for all sworn members <br />of the South Bend Fire Department on an eight (8) hour assignment: <br />New Year's Day <br />Monday, January 2 <br />Good Friday <br />Memorial Day <br />Friday, April 14 <br />Monday, May 29 <br />Independence Day <br />Tuesday, July 4 <br />Labor Day <br />Monday, September 4 <br />Veteran's Day <br />Friday, November 10 <br />Thanksgiving Day <br />Thursday, November 23 <br />Day after Thanksgiving <br />Friday, November 24 <br />Christmas Day <br />Monday, December 25 <br />In addition to the nine (9) designated holidays above, sworn personnel of the South Bend <br />Fire Department on an eight (8) hour assignment may choose one additional holiday from the <br />following listed below: <br />Martin Luther King Day <br />President's Day <br />Columbus Day <br />Employee's Birthday <br />Monday, January 16 <br />Monday, February 20 <br />Monday, October 9 <br />SECTION II. While sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department are not <br />excused from duty on holidays, according to the salary ordinance they shall receive extra <br />compensation for working on certain chosen holidays. During each calendar year, each member of <br />"A Shift" or of "C Shift" shall choose three (3) holidays from those designated for his or her shift. <br />In 1995, each member of "B Shift" shall choose four (4) holidays of those designated for his or her <br />shift. <br />For those sworn members assigned to "A Shift", on January 1, 1995, the following days are <br />designated as possible choices for holidays: <br />January 1 September 5 <br />January 14 October 9 <br />
