REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 3. 1995
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION TO CONDUCT "ANNUAL RIGHT TO LIFE MARCH"
<br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that Mr. Arthur R. Leinen, St. Joseph County Knights of Columbus Councils
<br />has requested permission to conduct the "Annual Right to Life March" on Sunday, January 22, 1995,
<br />beginning at 1:30 p.m. Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Board is in receipt of favorable
<br />recommendations from the Police Department, City Attorney's Office, Division of Engineering, and
<br />the Park Department. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier
<br />and carried, the request to conduct the march was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION TO CONDUCT "25TH ANNIVERSARY
<br />WALKAMERICA"
<br />Mr. Leszczynski informed the Board that Mr. Tom Gerard, Division Director, March of Dimes Birth
<br />Defects Foundation, 501 E. Monroe, South Bend, Indiana, has requested permission to conduct the
<br />"25th Anniversary WalkAmerica" on Saturday, April 29, 1995. Further, the Police Department,
<br />City Attorney's Office, Division of Engineering and the Park Department have given favorable
<br />recommendations. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried,
<br />the request for the "25th Anniversary WalkAmerica" was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION TO CONDUCT "WALKTOBERFEST"
<br />Mr. Leszczynski formed the Board that favorable recommendations have been received from the
<br />Police Department, City Attorney's Office, Division of Engineering and the Park Department for
<br />the above referred to request, as submitted by Ms. Susan Harlow, American Diabetes Association,
<br />7363 Est 21st Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. Ms. Harlow stated that the "Walktoberfest" will be
<br />conducted on Sunday, October 1, 1995, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Therefore, upon a motion made by
<br />Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the request to conduct a "Walktoberfest" was
<br />approved.
<br />REQUESTS REFERRED
<br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the following requests
<br />were referred to the appropriate Bureaus and Departments for review and recommendation:
<br />- RELOCATION OF FLAGS - HOLIDAY INN - DOWNTOWN
<br />Mr. Gregory Williams, Chief Engineer, Holiday Inn - Downtown, 213 W. Washington Street, South
<br />Bend, Indiana, requested permission to move pre-existing flag poles from the Main Street side (east
<br />side) of the building to the Washington Street side (south side). Further, the reason for relocation
<br />the pole is that Holiday Inn Corporation requires that the American flag and the Holiday Inn flag
<br />be near the entrance of the hotel.
<br />- TO CONDUCT 1 OTH ANNUAL MARTIN LUTHER KING MARCH
<br />Ms. Bernice Freeman, Martin Luther King Jr. Foundation, Inc., 914 Lincolnway West, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, requested permission to conduct their 1 Oth Annual Traditional March from the County -City
<br />Building to the Century Center, on Monday, January 16, 1995, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
<br />- TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE - TRANEX CAR SALES
<br />Ms. Sharon H. Drybrough, 632 Spring Mill Lane, Indianapolis, Indiana, requested permission to
<br />conduct a used vehicle sale, on March 1 through March 3, 1995, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.,and
<br />March 4, 1995 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the K-Mart parking lot at 4640 South Michigan
<br />Street, South Bend, Indiana.
<br />-TO INSTALL REDWOOD SIGN
<br />Mr. Donald E. Jesswin, President, Forest Sign & Display, Inc. requested permission to install one
<br />(1) double face redwood sandblasted sign at InternationaNartending Institute,1805 South Michigan
<br />Street,
<br />- LICENSE RENEWAL - SCRAP METAL DEALER- SOUTH BEND SCRAP & PROCESSING
<br />Mr. Cary Levin, 51070 Huntington Lane, Granger, Indiana, requested permission to renew the
<br />license application for Scrap Metal Dealer/Junk Dealer/Recycling Operation/Transfer Station
<br />License at 3113 South Gertrude, South Bend, Indiana.
