REGULAR MEETING MAY 111996 ADOPT RESOLUTION NO.41-1996 - DISPOSAL OF' CITY OWNED PROPERTY Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the following Resolution was adopted by the Board of Public Works: RESOLUTION NO. 41 - 1996 A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ON DISPOSAL OF UNFIT AND/OR OBSOLETE PROPERTY WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Board of Public Works that the following property is unfit for the purpose for which it was intended and is no longer needed by the City of South Bend: ONE (1) 1986 CHEVY PICK UP ONE (1) 1969 CHEVY TANKER ONE (1) AERIOL TAR KETTLE ONE (1) 1984 INTERNATIONAL DUMP TRUCK ONE 1) 1984 GMC PICK UP ONE (1) 1981 FORD DUMP WHEREAS, Indiana Code 36-1-11-60 permits and establishes procedure for disposal of personal property which is unfit for the purpose for which it was intended and which is no longer needed by the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend that the items listed above are no longer needed by the City; are unfit for the purpose for which they were intended and have an estimated value of less than five thousand dollars ($5,000.00). BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that said equipment may be transferred or sold at public auction or private sale, without advertising. However, if the property is deemed worthless, such may be demolished or junked. ADOPTED this 13th day of May, 1996. BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA s/John E. Jacob, Clerk APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE SALE OF BIDS - ONE (1) 1986 CHEVY PICK UP =ONE (1) 1969 CHEVY TANKER - ONE (1) AERIOL TAR KETTLE - ONE (1) 1984 INTERNATIONAL DUMP TRUCK - ONE (1) 1984 GMC PICK UP - ONE (1) 1981 FORD DUMP In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Matthew Chlebowski, Director, Division of Equipment Services, requested permission to advertise for the sale of bids for the above referred to equipment. Mr. Chlebowski stated that this equipment is no longer in use by the City of South Bend, and was declared obsolete by Resolution No. 41-1996, on May 13, 1996. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the request to advertise for the sale of the above referred to equipment was approved. APPROVAL OF SALE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY - 749 NORTH CLEVELAND Mr. Leszczynski stated that on March 4, 1996, bids were received for the sale of the above referred to property. One (1) bidder, Ms. Della Jenkins, 745 North Cleveland Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, submitted a bid for $100.00. In addition, the property was declared obsolete by Resolution No 7- 1996, adopted by the Board on March 4, 1996. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the sale of City -owned property at 749 North Cleveland was approved, subject to the filing of necessary paperwork.
