REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 111996 <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO.41-1996 - DISPOSAL OF' CITY OWNED PROPERTY <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the following <br />Resolution was adopted by the Board of Public Works: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 41 - 1996 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />ON DISPOSAL OF UNFIT AND/OR OBSOLETE PROPERTY <br />WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Board of Public Works that the following <br />property is unfit for the purpose for which it was intended and is no longer needed by the City of <br />South Bend: <br />ONE (1) <br />1986 CHEVY PICK UP <br />ONE (1) <br />1969 CHEVY TANKER <br />ONE (1) <br />AERIOL TAR KETTLE <br />ONE (1) 1984 INTERNATIONAL DUMP TRUCK <br />ONE <br />1) 1984 GMC PICK UP <br />ONE <br />(1) 1981 FORD DUMP <br />WHEREAS, Indiana Code 36-1-11-60 permits and establishes procedure for disposal of <br />personal property which is unfit for the purpose for which it was intended and which is no longer <br />needed by the City. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works of the City of South <br />Bend that the items listed above are no longer needed by the City; are unfit for the purpose for which <br />they were intended and have an estimated value of less than five thousand dollars ($5,000.00). <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that said equipment may be transferred or sold at public <br />auction or private sale, without advertising. However, if the property is deemed worthless, such may <br />be demolished or junked. <br />ADOPTED this 13th day of May, 1996. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />s/John E. Jacob, Clerk <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE SALE OF BIDS <br />- ONE (1) 1986 CHEVY PICK UP <br />=ONE (1) 1969 CHEVY TANKER <br />- ONE (1) AERIOL TAR KETTLE <br />- ONE (1) 1984 INTERNATIONAL DUMP TRUCK <br />- ONE (1) 1984 GMC PICK UP <br />- ONE (1) 1981 FORD DUMP <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Matthew Chlebowski, Director, Division of Equipment <br />Services, requested permission to advertise for the sale of bids for the above referred to equipment. <br />Mr. Chlebowski stated that this equipment is no longer in use by the City of South Bend, and was <br />declared obsolete by Resolution No. 41-1996, on May 13, 1996. Therefore, upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the request to advertise for the sale of the <br />above referred to equipment was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF SALE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY - 749 NORTH CLEVELAND <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that on March 4, 1996, bids were received for the sale of the above referred <br />to property. One (1) bidder, Ms. Della Jenkins, 745 North Cleveland Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, <br />submitted a bid for $100.00. In addition, the property was declared obsolete by Resolution No 7- <br />1996, adopted by the Board on March 4, 1996. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, <br />seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the sale of City -owned property at 749 North Cleveland was <br />approved, subject to the filing of necessary paperwork. <br />
