<br />Contest, on Saturday, September 27, 1997. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr.
<br />Littrell and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - POLICE ESCORT
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Ms. Sharon Evans, Special Olympics of Indiana, Mishawaka, Indiana, for a police escort for their
<br />departure to the games in Terre Haute, on June 5, 1997. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer,
<br />seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - POLICE ESCORT
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Ms. Inga Bowyer, Michiana Senior Expo, South Bend, Indiana, for a police escort for the arrival
<br />and departure of Art Linkletter, in his appearance in conjunction with the Michiana Senior Expo, on
<br />June 11, 1997 and June 12, 1997. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Littrell and
<br />carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL O1- TO CONDUCT HEAL OUR STREETS PARADE
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a
<br />request as submitted by Mr. Edgar Cabello, Calvary Temple, 3717 South Michigan, South Bend,
<br />Indiana to conduct the above referred to parade, on Saturday, May 31, 1997, from 10:00 a.m. until
<br />11:00 a.m., on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded
<br />by Ms. Roemer and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF LICENSE APPLICATION FOR A CARNIVAL OR CIRCUS
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations from the Fire
<br />Department, Police Department, Code Enforcement, Building Department, Engineering Department
<br />and the Park Department, for a License Application for a Carnival or Circus as submitted by the
<br />Potawatomi Zoological Society, South Bend, Indiana, for a carnival/circus to be held at Potawatomi
<br />Zoo, on August 21 through August 24, 1997, 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. daily. Upon a motion made
<br />by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the License Application was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF LICENSE APPLICATION FOR RUBBISH AND GARBAGE REMOVAL
<br />SERVICE
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendation from the Department
<br />of Code Enforcement for a License Application for Rubbish and Garbage Removal Service, as
<br />submitted by Mr. Douglas Guest, 922 North St. Peter, South Bend, Indiana. Further, the Bureau of
<br />Sanitation has inspected the vehicle(s) to be used in conjunction with the business, and has approved
<br />them. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the License
<br />Application was approved.
<br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE AN ALLEY
<br />Mr. Caldwell indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board a Vacation Petition as
<br />completed by Ms. Dea Andrews, South Bend Heritage Foundation, 914 Lincolnway West, South
<br />Bend, Indiana to vacate the following alley:
<br />The first east -west alley south of Napier Street from the east right-of-way of South Chapin
<br />Street to the west right-of-way line of the first north south alley east of South Chapin Street
<br />for a distance of approximately 295 feet and a width of 14 feet. Part located in B.O.L. 71,
<br />City of South Bend, Indiana.
<br />Mr. Caldwell advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this
<br />Vacation Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation,
<br />Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. In addition, the
<br />Engineering Department recommends that the drive approach to the alley on Chapin Street shall be
<br />closed with curb. Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the Board send a favorable
<br />recommendation to the Common Council concerning this Vacation Petition. Ms. Roemer seconded
