ZOO <br />1 <br />I <br />1 <br />REGULAR MEETING MAY 27, 1997 <br />APPROVAL OF PROPOSAL - LAWSON FISHER ASSOCIATES P.C. <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the Board is in receipt of a Proposal between the City of South Bend and <br />Lawson Fisher Associates, 525 West Washington, South Bend, Indiana, for the following engineering <br />services: <br />Item 1- Preparation of Responses to Approved, not to exceed $2,200.00 <br />the Army Corps of Engineers <br />IItem 2 - Preparation of Section 14 I Approved, not to exceed $2,200.00 I <br />Application <br />IItem 3 - Preparation of FY `98 IDEM I Approved, not to exceed $2,200.00 I <br />Section 319 <br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the Proposal <br />was approved and executed. <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - LEIGHTON <br />PLAZA PHASE I, BID PACKAGE H - MASS EXCAVATION AND SHEETING - PROJECT NO <br />97-57-2 <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, requested <br />permission to advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Mr. Littrell stated <br />that this project will provide an earth retention system for opening the site and excavate to foundation <br />elevation for the underground garage covering nearly the full block. The Department of Community <br />and Economic Development and the Redevelopment Commission have advertised for the sale of <br />bonds to finance the full development of the project. The bond proceeds will be available prior to <br />award of contract for this first phase.. Therefore, upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by <br />Mr. Littrell and carried, the request to advertise for the receipt of bids was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the _Division of <br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted <br />by Ms. Johnnie Robinson, 521 North Jacob, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to <br />block party, on Sunday, May 25, 1997, on Jacob from Miner to Cedar, from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 <br />p.m. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the <br />recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted <br />by Mr. Roger Holbrook, 1812 East Irvington, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to <br />block party, on Saturday, June 7, 1997, on Irvington from Sampson to Southeast, from 4:00 p.m. <br />until 11:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by M Roemer and carried, the <br />recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted <br />by Ms. M.J. Murray Vachon, 1258 Longfellow, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred <br />to block party, on Saturday, June 14, 1997, on Longfellow from Sunnyside to Mishawaka Avenue, <br />from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and <br />carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREET - PASS PUNT AND KICK <br />CONTEST <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted <br />by Ms. Nancy Eide, College Football Hall of Fame, South Bend, Indiana to close Michigan Street <br />between Center City Associates and Washington Street, in conjunction with the Pass, Punt and Kick <br />
