1 REGULAR MEETING the motion which carried. MAY 27, 1997 FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION- PETITION TO VACATE VARIOUS STREETS AND AN ALLEY Mr. Caldwell indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board a Vacation Petition as completed by Mr. Lynne Coyne, Indiana University, South Bend, Indiana to vacate the following alley: The first north south alley west of Greenlawn Avenue from the south right-of-way of Mishawaka Avenue to the north right-of-way of Ruskin Street for a distance of approximately 504 feet and a width of 7 feet. Part situated in the northeast Quarter of Section 18, Township 37 North, Range 2 East. Mr. Caldwell advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this Vacation Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. Area Plan has noted that the legal descriptions are incorrect. These rights -of -ways are located in Range 3 East rather than Range 2 East. In addition, the Fire Department recommends approval, contingent on proper fire lanes. Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council concerning this Vacation Petition. Ms. Roemer seconded the motion which carried. APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the following three (3) traffic control devices were approved: Installation - No Parking - Various Locations (See Temporary until the Transfer Bus Stop attached) in the Central Center is in operation Business District and on Main, Monroe to South, South Main to Lafayette New Installation - Handicap 1426 College Mr. Cichos has met all the Sign requirements New Installation - Handicap 838 S. 36th Street Mrs. Cashen has met all the Sign requirements APPROVE CONTRACTOR BOND Mr. Larry D. Spradlin, Sr., Engineer, Division of Engineering, recommended that the following Contractor Bond be approved as follows: BOND OF CONTRACTOR Drew & Son Remodeling & Construction Approved Effective 5/27/97 Ms. Roemer made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and that the Bond be approved as outlined above. Mr. Littrell seconded the motion which carried. APPROVE TITLE SHEET - SOUTHVIEW CHURCH OF CHRIST MINOR SUBDIVISION Mr. Caldwell advised that the Title Sheet for the above referred to project was being presented at this time for execution. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the above referred to Title Sheet was approved and signed. APPROVE CLAIMS Ms. M. Catherine Roemer, City Controller, submitted claims in the amount of $29,476.55 dated May 14, 1997, and $990,072.32 dated May 19, 1997; and $847,882.64 dated May 27, 1997 and recommended approval. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the claims be approved and the reports as submitted be filed. Ms. Roemer seconded the motion which carried.
