1 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />the motion which carried. <br />MAY 27, 1997 <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION- PETITION TO VACATE VARIOUS STREETS AND AN <br />ALLEY <br />Mr. Caldwell indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board a Vacation Petition as <br />completed by Mr. Lynne Coyne, Indiana University, South Bend, Indiana to vacate the following <br />alley: <br />The first north south alley west of Greenlawn Avenue from the south right-of-way of <br />Mishawaka Avenue to the north right-of-way of Ruskin Street for a distance of approximately <br />504 feet and a width of 7 feet. Part situated in the northeast Quarter of Section 18, <br />Township 37 North, Range 2 East. <br />Mr. Caldwell advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this <br />Vacation Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, <br />Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. Area Plan has noted <br />that the legal descriptions are incorrect. These rights -of -ways are located in Range 3 East rather than <br />Range 2 East. In addition, the Fire Department recommends approval, contingent on proper fire <br />lanes. Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to <br />the Common Council concerning this Vacation Petition. Ms. Roemer seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the following three (3) <br />traffic control devices were approved: <br />Installation - No Parking - <br />Various Locations (See <br />Temporary until the Transfer <br />Bus Stop <br />attached) in the Central <br />Center is in operation <br />Business District and on <br />Main, Monroe to South, <br />South Main to Lafayette <br />New Installation - Handicap <br />1426 College <br />Mr. Cichos has met all the <br />Sign <br />requirements <br />New Installation - Handicap <br />838 S. 36th Street <br />Mrs. Cashen has met all the <br />Sign <br />requirements <br />APPROVE CONTRACTOR BOND <br />Mr. Larry D. Spradlin, Sr., Engineer, Division of Engineering, recommended that the following <br />Contractor Bond be approved as follows: <br />BOND OF CONTRACTOR <br />Drew & Son Remodeling & Construction Approved Effective 5/27/97 <br />Ms. Roemer made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and that the Bond be approved as <br />outlined above. Mr. Littrell seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE TITLE SHEET - SOUTHVIEW CHURCH OF CHRIST MINOR SUBDIVISION <br />Mr. Caldwell advised that the Title Sheet for the above referred to project was being presented at this <br />time for execution. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the <br />above referred to Title Sheet was approved and signed. <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />Ms. M. Catherine Roemer, City Controller, submitted claims in the amount of $29,476.55 dated May <br />14, 1997, and $990,072.32 dated May 19, 1997; and $847,882.64 dated May 27, 1997 and <br />recommended approval. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the claims be approved and the reports <br />as submitted be filed. Ms. Roemer seconded the motion which carried. <br />
