<br />APPROVE INTENT TO AWARD BID - EAST WAYNE HISTORIC DISTRICT LIGHTING
<br />UPGRADE - PROJECT NO. 98-56
<br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, City Engineer, advised the Board that on October 19, 1998, bids were received
<br />and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Littrell recommends
<br />that the Board approve an intent to award the contract to Trans Tech Electric, Inc., 4601 Cleveland
<br />Road, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $155,000.00. Therefore, Ms. Roemer made a motion
<br />that the recommendation be accepted and the intent to award the bid be approved. Mr. Powell
<br />seconded the motion which carried.
<br />APPROVE INTENT TO AWARD BID - FIRE STATION NO. 10 - PROJECT NO. 97-18
<br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, City Engineer, advised the Board that on August 31, 1998, bids were received
<br />and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Littrell recommends
<br />that the Board approve an intent to award the contract to Casteel Construction Corporation, 23186
<br />Ireland Road, South Bend, Indiana in the amount of $1,247,000.00. Therefore, Ms. Roemer made
<br />a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the intent to award the bid be approved. Mr.
<br />Powell seconded the motion which carried.
<br />AWARD QUOTATION - CONRAIL BRIDGE - WESTERN AVENUE AND WALNUT STREET -
<br />STRUCTURAL STEEL PAINTING - PROJECT NO. 98-81
<br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, City Engineer, advised the Board that on October 12, 1998, quotations were
<br />received and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those quotations, Mr. Littrell
<br />recommends that the Board award the contract to N.I, Spanos Painting, Post Office Box 10908,
<br />Merrillville, Indiana in the amount of $67,700.00. Therefore, Ms. Roemer made a motion that the
<br />recommendation be accepted and the quotation be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Powell seconded
<br />the motion which carried.
<br />APPROVE CHANGE ORDER - LEIGHTON PLAZA - BID PACKAGE 3-15.20-1 - PROJECT
<br />NO. 97-57-4
<br />Mr. Caldwell advised that Mr. Carl Littrell, City Engineer, has submitted Change Order No. 3-15.20-
<br />1 on behalf of McDaniel Fire Systems, 53307 Ada Drive, Elkhart, Indiana indicating that the Contract
<br />amount be increased $476.00 for a new Contract sum including this Change Order in the amount of
<br />$166,586.00. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the
<br />Change Order was approved.
<br />APPROVE CHANGE ORDER - LEIGHTON PLAZA - BID PACKAGE 1-02.30-4 - PROJECT
<br />NO. 97-57-4
<br />Mr. Caldwell advised that Mr. Carl Littrell, City Engineer, has submitted Change Order No. 1-02.30-
<br />4 on behalf of Ritschard Brothers, 1204 West Sample, South Bend, Indiana indicating that the
<br />Contract amount be increased $4,902.81 for a new Contract sum including this Change Order in the
<br />amount of $723,891.65. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried,
<br />the Change Order was approved.
