<br />APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT - BUILDING BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the Board is in receipt of an Agreement between the City of South Bend and
<br />the American Red Cross, 3220 East Jefferson, South Bend, Indiana, for. the costs of landscaping
<br />improvements in the front yard of the Red Cross. Mr. Caldwell noted that the Agreement is in the
<br />amount of $241.00. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and
<br />carried, the Agreement was approved and executed.
<br />APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT - BUILDING BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the Board is in receipt of an Agreement between the City of South Bend and
<br />Mr. Robert Brunke, 1608 East LaSalle, for the planting of two pear trees on their front lawn. Mr.
<br />Caldwell noted that the Agreement is in the dmount of $100.00. Therefore, upon a motion made by
<br />Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the Agreement was approved and executed.
<br />APPROVAL OF 1999 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR CITY EMPLOYEES
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the 1999 Holidays
<br />Schedule for City Employees was approved, as follows:
<br />New Year's Day
<br />Good Friday
<br />Memorial Day
<br />Independence Day
<br />Labor Day
<br />Veteran's Day
<br />Thanksgiving Day
<br />Day after Thanksgiving
<br />Friday, January 1, 1999

<br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - SECOND HAND DEALER
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the following scondhand dealers license application has been received:
<br />NAME: English Rose
<br />BY: Susan Kessler
<br />ADDRESS: 116 South Taylor
<br />FOR THE PURPOSE OF SELLING: Antiques
<br />Mr. Caldwell further advised that favorable recommendations have been received from the Bureau
<br />Of Traffic and Lighting, Department of Code Enforcement, Police Department and Fire Department
<br />concerning the above application. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Caldwell
<br />and carried, the above license application was approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's
<br />Office for issuance of a license.
<br />DENIAL OF REQUEST TO PURCHASE PROPERTY AT 1036 LINCOLNWAY EAST
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that unfavorable recommendations have been received by Community and
<br />Economic Development and the Department of Code Enforcement in reference to a request as
<br />submitted by Mr. Steve Garman, Post Office Box 562, South Bend, Indiana to purchase the City -
<br />owned property at 1036 Lincolnway East. Community and Economic Development has stated that
<br />the property is approximately 29,000 square feet and is bordered on the west by Bowman Creek.
<br />Although Bowman Creek is not currently an attraction at this location, it is a natural waterway and
<br />any City properties that may be adjacent to it should remain in City ownership. Upon a motion made
<br />by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the request was denied.
