<br />Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. Therefore, Mr.
<br />Caldwell made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council
<br />concerning this Vacation Petition. Ms. Roemer seconded the motion which carried.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT INTERSECTION SOLICITATION -
<br />MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY ASSOCIATION
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering and the Police Department, in reference to a request as submitted by Ms. Stephanie
<br />Santos, Fox 28, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to intersection solicitation, on
<br />August 29, 1999, from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., at Miami and Ironwood, Lincolnway and
<br />Twyckenham; and Lombardy and Western, in conjunction with the Muscular Dystrophy Association
<br />"Jerry's Kids" campaign. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Powell and
<br />carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT A BLOCK PARTY - FREMONT
<br />FROM HAMILTON TO MARQUETTE STREET
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, and the Police Department, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr. Larry Johnson,
<br />Housing Authority of South Bend, to conduct the above referred to block party, on August 28' 1999,
<br />on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms.
<br />Roemer and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT A CARNIVAL OR CIRCUS -
<br />POTAWATOMI ZOO
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Code Enforcement, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to
<br />a request as submitted by Ms. Linda Eberle, Eberle Amusement Co., 270 Washington Avenue, Peru,
<br />Indiana, to conduct the above referred to carnival or circus, on August 261h thru the 29' 1999, on the
<br />designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and
<br />carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF GRANTS OF EASEMENT - LEIGHTON PLAZA (4)
<br />In a memorandum to the Board, Ms. Ann Kolata, Community and Economic Development,
<br />recommended approval of four (4) Grants of Easement, between the City of South Bend,
<br />Redevelopment Commission and Teacher's Credit Union, as submitted to the Board, in conjunction
<br />with Leighton Plaza. In addition, the Redevelopment Commission will be acting on them at their
<br />regular meeting. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Powell and carried, the
<br />Grants of Easement were approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO CONDUCT A PUBLIC AUCTION - OBSOLETE CITY
<br />VEHICLES
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Matthew Chlebowski, Central Services, requested permission to conduct
<br />a public auction for the sale of obsolete city vehicles and miscellaneous equipment, on September
<br />11, 1999. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Powell and carried, the request
<br />was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - ONE (1)MORE
<br />OR LESS, 3/4 TON EXTENDED CAB CHASSIS
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Matthew Chlebowski, Central Services, requested permission to
<br />advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to equipment. Funding is provided by the
<br />Water Works capital budget. Therefore, upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr.
<br />Caldwell and carried, the request to advertise for the receipt of bids was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS ONE (1) MORE
<br />OR LESS, BITUMINOUS DISTRIBUTOR
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Matthew Chlebowski, Central Services, requested permission to
<br />advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to equipment. Mr. Chlebowski stated that
<br />funding for this equipment will be provided by the Street Department capital budget. Therefore,
<br />upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the request to advertise
<br />for the receipt of bids was approved.
