REGULAR MEETING MARCH 22, 1999 <br />The first north south alley east of North Spruce Street from the south right of way of West <br />Colfax Avenue to the north right of way of the first -east west alley south of West Colfax <br />Avenue for a distance of approximately 198 feet in length and a width of 14 feet. Part located <br />in Commissioner's Sub of Bank Outlet 79, South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana. <br />Mr. Caldwell advised that the Board is in receipt of favorab!e recommendations concerning this <br />Vacation Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, <br />Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. Therefore, Mr. Powell <br />made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council concerning <br />this Vacation Petition. Ms. Roemer seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE LICENSE. APPLICATION - SECOND HAND DEALER <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the following secondhand dealers license application has been received: <br />NAME: <br />BY: <br />ADDRESS: <br />FOR THE PURPOSE OF SELLING: <br />1'/ <br />P&K Furniture <br />Karen Raymond <br />1301 East Calvert <br />New and Used Furniture <br />Mr. Caldwell further advised that favorable recommendations have been received from the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting, Department of Code Enforcement, Police Department and Fire Department <br />concerning the above application. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer <br />and carried, the above license application was approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's <br />Office for issuance of a license. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATIONS - GARBAGE AND RUBBISH SERVICE <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the following Garbage and Rubbish Service applications have been received: <br />Willie Alsander Rubbish Service 3719 West Jefferson <br />l `f Charles Hagge II 1323 Dayton Street <br />Mr. Caldwell further advised that favorable recommendations have been received by the Department <br />of Code Enforcement concerning these applications. Further, the Bureau of Sanitation has inspected <br />the vehicle(s) to be used in conjunction with these businesses, and has found them to be satisfactory. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the above license <br />applications were approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's Office for issuance of a license. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT CRIMESTOPPERS "MOONLIGHT <br />WALK AGAINST CRIME" <br />Mr. Caldwell. stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a <br />request as submitted by Mr. Michael Shlakman, South Bend Area Crime Stoppers, Inc. 701 West <br />sample Street, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to walk, on July.18, 1999, on the <br />designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Ms., Roemer, seconded by Mr. Powell and <br />carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO RE -ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - MORRIS <br />PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - PAINTING - PROJECT NO. 98-25-5.9E <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Fred Lusk, Verkler, Inc, 4406 Technology Drive, South Bend, Indiana, <br />requested permission to re -advertise for the receipt of bids.for the above referred to project. Mr. <br />Lusk stated that the previously awarded bidder, Interstate Decorating Service, has refused to execute <br />the contract. Ms. Cleo Hickey, Morris Performing Arts Center, concurs with this request. Therefore, <br />upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, -the request was <br />approved. <br />
