REGULAR MEETING MARCH 22, 1999 The first north south alley east of North Spruce Street from the south right of way of West Colfax Avenue to the north right of way of the first -east west alley south of West Colfax Avenue for a distance of approximately 198 feet in length and a width of 14 feet. Part located in Commissioner's Sub of Bank Outlet 79, South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana. Mr. Caldwell advised that the Board is in receipt of favorab!e recommendations concerning this Vacation Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. Therefore, Mr. Powell made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council concerning this Vacation Petition. Ms. Roemer seconded the motion which carried. APPROVE LICENSE. APPLICATION - SECOND HAND DEALER Mr. Caldwell stated that the following secondhand dealers license application has been received: NAME: BY: ADDRESS: FOR THE PURPOSE OF SELLING: 1'/ P&K Furniture Karen Raymond 1301 East Calvert New and Used Furniture Mr. Caldwell further advised that favorable recommendations have been received from the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, Department of Code Enforcement, Police Department and Fire Department concerning the above application. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the above license application was approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's Office for issuance of a license. APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATIONS - GARBAGE AND RUBBISH SERVICE Mr. Caldwell stated that the following Garbage and Rubbish Service applications have been received: Willie Alsander Rubbish Service 3719 West Jefferson l `f Charles Hagge II 1323 Dayton Street Mr. Caldwell further advised that favorable recommendations have been received by the Department of Code Enforcement concerning these applications. Further, the Bureau of Sanitation has inspected the vehicle(s) to be used in conjunction with these businesses, and has found them to be satisfactory. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the above license applications were approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's Office for issuance of a license. APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT CRIMESTOPPERS "MOONLIGHT WALK AGAINST CRIME" Mr. Caldwell. stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr. Michael Shlakman, South Bend Area Crime Stoppers, Inc. 701 West sample Street, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to walk, on July.18, 1999, on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Ms., Roemer, seconded by Mr. Powell and carried, the recommendation was approved. APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO RE -ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - MORRIS PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - PAINTING - PROJECT NO. 98-25-5.9E In a letter to the Board, Mr. Fred Lusk, Verkler, Inc, 4406 Technology Drive, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to re -advertise for the receipt of bids.for the above referred to project. Mr. Lusk stated that the previously awarded bidder, Interstate Decorating Service, has refused to execute the contract. Ms. Cleo Hickey, Morris Performing Arts Center, concurs with this request. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, -the request was approved.
