REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 9, 2000 <br />AWARD BID - DEMOLITION OF 600 NORTH NILES AND 529 CRESCENT AVENUE - <br />PROJECT NO. 100-83 <br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, City Engineer, advised the Board that on September 25, 2000, bids were received <br />and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Littrell recommends <br />that the Board award the contract to Knapp Environmental Construction Services, Inc., 12875 <br />McKinley, Mishawaka, Indiana in the amount of $76,000.00. Therefore, Mr. Inks made a motion <br />that the recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Gilot seconded <br />the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BID - SOUTHFIELD STORM SEWER - SECTION I - PROJECT NO. 100-59 <br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, City Engineer, advised the Board that on September 11, 2000, bids were received <br />and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Gilot recommends that <br />the Board award the contract to Youngs Excavating, Post Office Box 2766, South Bend, Indiana in <br />the amount of $278,789.00. Therefore, Mr. Inks made a motion that the recommendation be <br />accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Gilot seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED <br />VEHICLES <br />Mrs. Kathy Davis, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for <br />the sale of approximately seventeen (17) abandoned vehicles, which are being stored at Super Auto <br />Salvage Corporation, 3300 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles <br />have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had been run for auto theft and <br />the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Gilot and <br />carried, the above request was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - UNIFORM <br />RENTAL <br />Ina memorandum to the Board, Ms. Cathy Hubbard-Shead, Personnel Director, requested permission <br />to advertise for the receipt of bids for uniforms for the City of South Bend. Therefore, upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Gilot and carried, the request to advertise for the receipt <br />of bids was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - LABORATORY <br />CASEWORK REPLACEMENT - WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT - PROJECT NO 100- <br />88 <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Robert Toppel, Environmental Services, requested permission <br />to advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Mr. Toppel stated that the <br />replacement is necessary because of the age of the cabinets and that some asbestos was found in the <br />countertops. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Gilot and carried, the <br />request was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - US 31 <br />INDUSTRIAL PARK - PHASE IV - WATER MAIN DRAINAGE AND ROADWAY <br />CONSTRUCTION - PROJECT NO. 100-89 <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Carl Littrell, City Engineer, requested.permission to advertise <br />for the receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Mr. Littrell stated that this project will <br />construct public works improvements on Phase IV of the US Industrial Park, including construction <br />of water mains, drainage system, roadways, and site stabilization. Therefore, upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Gilot and carried, the request was approved. <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 105-2000 - DISPOSAL OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the following Resolution was <br />adopted by the Board of Public Works: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 105-2000 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />ON DISPOSAL OF UNFIT AND/OR OBSOLETE PROPERTY <br />
