Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, <br />seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the request to advertise for the receipt of bids was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - DEMOLITION <br />OF BUILDINGS - 600 NORTH NILES AND 529 CRESCENT - PROJECT NO. 100-83 <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Carl Littrell, City Engineer, requested permission to advertise <br />for the receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Mr. Littrell stated that this project will <br />demolish two (2) commercial buildings and restore the sites at 600 North Niles (formerly Design <br />Packaging Company) and 529 Crescent Avenue (formerly HTI, Inc.). Therefore, upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the request to advertise for the receipt of <br />bids was approved. <br />APPROVE TITLE SHEETS <br />- HUEY STREET AND HAMILTON STREET SANITARY SEWER - PROJECT NO. 100-28 <br />- EAST BANK WALKWAY PHASE III - PROJECT NO 99-51 <br />Mr. Gilot advised that the Title Sheets for the above referred to projects were being presented at this <br />time for execution. Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the <br />above referred to Title Sheets were approved and signed. <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE PROPERTY <br />Mr. Gilot indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board a Vacation Petition as <br />completed by Ms. Angie Wells, 520 South Main, Akron, Ohio to vacate the following property: <br />A strip of ground commencing one hundred fifty (150) feet north of the southwest corner of <br />Lot 165 as shown on the recorded plat of Myers and Funk's Third Plat of Chippewa Heights <br />Addition to the City of South Bend, Indiana, as a point of beginning, thence north along the <br />west line of said Lot 165, a distance of twenty-four (24) feet, thence east parallel to the south <br />boundary line of said Lot 165 one hundred twenty-eight and eleven one hundredths (128.11) <br />feet, thence south along the west line of Lot 165 twenty-four feet (24), thence west parallel <br />to the south boundary line of said Lot 165 one hundred twenty-eight and eleven one <br />hundredths (128.11) feet to the place of beginning. <br />Mr. Gilot advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this Vacation <br />Petition from the Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, Department of Economic <br />Development and the Department of Public Works. Area Plan Commission did not submit a <br />recommendation. Therefore, Ms. Roemer made a motion that the Board send a favorable <br />recommendation to the Common Council concerning this Vacation Petition. Mr. Inks seconded the <br />motion which carried. <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE AN ALLEY <br />Mr. Gilot indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board a Vacation Petition as <br />completed by Mr. Stephen Rudisell, Abonmarche Consultants, 1711 East McKinley, Mishawaka, <br />Indiana to vacate the following alley: <br />The first north south alley east of Michigan Street from the north right of way line of <br />Broadway Street to the south right of way line of the first east west alley north of Broadway <br />Street for a distance of 156 feet and a width of 14 feet, located in Haney's Addition recorded <br />in Plat Book 6, page 13 in the office of the St. Joseph County Recorder, City of South Bend, <br />St. Joseph County, Indiana. <br />Mr. Gilot advised that the Board is in receipt offavorable recommendations concerning this Vacation <br />Petition from the Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, Department of Economic <br />Development and the Department of Public Works. Area Plan Commission did not submit a <br />recommendation. It was also noted that Rose's Hatchery, which is adjacent to the proposed vacation, <br />is opposed to the vacation. Therefore, Mr. Gilot made a motion that the Board send a favorable <br />recommendation to the Common Council concerning this Vacation Petition. Ms. Roemer seconded <br />the motion which carried. <br />
