REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 28, 2000 APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION WALK Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr. G William Jack, Alzheimer's Association, 425 North Michigan, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to walk, on September 23, 2000, on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the recommendation was approved. APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREET - WAYNE FROM ST. JOSEPH TO MICHIGAN - CORN AND SAUSAGE ROAST - FINNIGAN' S IRISH PUB Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr. Julius Cheney, Finnigan's Irish Pub, 113 East Wayne, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to event, on September 8 and 9, 2000. It was noted that the establishment has applied for a Temporary Beer Permit. The Police Department has stated that Finnigan's be required to clean One Michiana Square lot when the event is over. The Board discussed similar events such as this, and recommended that the business owner submit a check in an amount to cover clean-up by the City, in the event the business patrons did not clean the area(s) after the event. Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the recommendation was approved. APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT "CITIZENS FOR COMMUNITY VALUES" WALK Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr. Patrick Mangon, Post Office Box 8293, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to walk, on August 27, 2000, on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the recommendation was approved. APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATIONS - GARBAGE AND RUBBISH SERVICE Mr. Gilot stated that the following Garbage and Rubbish Service applications have been received: NAME: Milton Lax ADDRESS: 750 North Olive NAME: Mary Dodd Rubbish Company 118 South Illinois Mr. Gilot further advised that favorable recommendations have been received by the Department of Code Enforcement concerning these applications. Further, the Bureau of Sanitation has inspected the vehicle(s) to be used in conjunction with these businesses, and has found them to be satisfactory. The Board recommended that each of the above listed Rubbish and Garbage Removal Services has two (2) scheduled and two (2) unscheduled inspections. Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the above license applications were approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's Office for issuance of a license. APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - OPEN AIR STAND Mr. Gilot advised that the following license application has been received: NAME: BY: ADDRESS: STAND TO LOCATED AT DATES: FOR THE PURPOSE OF: Landmarks "Brat Barn" Lorraine Borders 4401 South Michigan Stand at 222 South Michigan Every Friday and Saturday, August through October Sale of hotdogs, sausages and brats Mr. Gilot further advised that favorable recommendations have been received from the Police Department, Department of Code Enforcement, City Attorney's Office, and the Building Department for the above application.
