REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 28, 2000 <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION <br />WALK <br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering, <br />Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as <br />submitted by Mr. G William Jack, Alzheimer's Association, 425 North Michigan, South Bend, <br />Indiana to conduct the above referred to walk, on September 23, 2000, on the designated route as <br />submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the <br />recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREET - WAYNE FROM ST. JOSEPH <br />TO MICHIGAN - CORN AND SAUSAGE ROAST - FINNIGAN' S IRISH PUB <br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering, <br />Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr. Julius <br />Cheney, Finnigan's Irish Pub, 113 East Wayne, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred <br />to event, on September 8 and 9, 2000. It was noted that the establishment has applied for a <br />Temporary Beer Permit. The Police Department has stated that Finnigan's be required to clean One <br />Michiana Square lot when the event is over. The Board discussed similar events such as this, and <br />recommended that the business owner submit a check in an amount to cover clean-up by the City, <br />in the event the business patrons did not clean the area(s) after the event. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Inks, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT "CITIZENS FOR COMMUNITY <br />VALUES" WALK <br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering, <br />Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as <br />submitted by Mr. Patrick Mangon, Post Office Box 8293, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above <br />referred to walk, on August 27, 2000, on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATIONS - GARBAGE AND RUBBISH SERVICE <br />Mr. Gilot stated that the following Garbage and Rubbish Service applications have been received: <br />NAME: Milton Lax <br />ADDRESS: 750 North Olive <br />NAME: Mary Dodd Rubbish Company <br />118 South Illinois <br />Mr. Gilot further advised that favorable recommendations have been received by the Department of <br />Code Enforcement concerning these applications. Further, the Bureau of Sanitation has inspected <br />the vehicle(s) to be used in conjunction with these businesses, and has found them to be satisfactory. <br />The Board recommended that each of the above listed Rubbish and Garbage Removal Services has <br />two (2) scheduled and two (2) unscheduled inspections. Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded <br />by Mr. Inks and carried, the above license applications were approved and referred to the Deputy <br />Controller's Office for issuance of a license. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - OPEN AIR STAND <br />Mr. Gilot advised that the following license application has been received: <br />NAME: <br />BY: <br />ADDRESS: <br />STAND TO LOCATED AT <br />DATES: <br />FOR THE PURPOSE OF: <br />Landmarks "Brat Barn" <br />Lorraine Borders <br />4401 South Michigan <br />Stand at 222 South Michigan <br />Every Friday and Saturday, August through October <br />Sale of hotdogs, sausages and brats <br />Mr. Gilot further advised that favorable recommendations have been received from the Police <br />Department, Department of Code Enforcement, City Attorney's Office, and the Building Department <br />for the above application.
